PGDCA ADMISSION TEST 2011


Established in the year 1922, University of Delhi is one of the most prestigious institutions in India. Since
its inception it has been a centre of academic excellence. The Department of Computer Science was
established in University of Delhi in the year 1981, with the objective of imparting quality education in the
field of Computer Science.

POST-GRADUATE DIPLOMA IN COMPUTER APPLICATIONS (PGDCA)


The University offers through its constituent colleges, a two semester Post-Graduate Diploma in Computer
Applications for providing qualified work force to the industry.

SCEHDULE OF ADMISSION – PGDCA


1. Starting of obtaining Application Forms : Thursday, June 02, 2011
2. Last date for receipt of completed Application : By hand: Monday, July 04, 2011
Forms By post : Friday, June 28, 2011*

3. Date of Admission Test : Sunday, July 10, 2011


Time : 10.00 A.M. to 12.00 Noon
Reporting Time : 9.30 A.M.
4. Date of declaration of result : Saturday, July 16, 2011

5. Date of counseling : Monday, July 18, 2011
Time (Tentative) 10.00 A.M.
Notes:
(i) The result will be notified on the Department Notice Board and on the Website. No individual
communication will be sent.
(ii) Schedule for admission would be notified along with the result.
(iii) The Entrance Test will be conducted at University of Delhi Only.

1. Eligibility:
(a) Examination Passed
Graduate in any subject from University of Delhi or any other recognized University having at
least 50% marks in aggregate with one paper in Mathematics and candidate must have studied
Mathematics at +2 stage of Senior School Certificate Examination or equivalent thereto .

(b) The candidates who are appearing in the final year examination of the degree on the basis
of which admission is sought are also eligible to apply.

(c) The candidates belonging of the following categories shall be allowed a relaxation of 5%
marks in the minimum eligibility requirements subject to production of a certificate as
mentioned in (a).

(i) Scheduled Castes(SC)/Scheduled Tribes(ST) candidates.


(ii) Physically Handicapped(PH) candidates.
(iii) Children/widows (CW) of the officers and men of the armed forces including para
military personnel killed or disabled during hostilities and who die on duty.

Admission under the category (i), (ii) and (iii) is open to Indian Nationals only.
2. Age Requirements:

(i) No person shall be eligible for admission to first year of the PGDCA course in the
University unless he/she is twenty years of age before the first day of October of the year
in which he/she seeks admission.

(ii) The Vice-Chancellor may relax the age limit up to the extent of one year on individual
merit after a written request is made by the candidate.

3. Entrance Examination Fee: General category: Rs 800/- SC/ST, PH category : Rs 400/-

4. Admission Procedure:

Admission to the course will be made through an Entrance Examination. The Examination
will comprise or Objective Type Questions based on Mathematical Ability, Deductive &
Logical Ability and English Comprehension

Syllabus for the Entrance Examination.

Mathematical ability: +2 level Mathematics (50 Questions)

Deductive and logical ability: Verbal reasoning and verbal analogy, letter series, number
series, coding and decoding logical diagrams and syllogism, graph data interpretation.
( 30 Questions)

Comprehension and verbal ability: Comprehension at paragraph and sentence level,


identification of mistake, grammar and usage: Vocabulary – word formation, synonyms,
antonyms, paring of words, analogies, sentences structure and construction, active and
passive voice, prepositions, completion of sentences. ( 20 Questions)

5. Admission Ticket:
The Admission Tickets will be issued by hand or by post. The candidate will be required to
show the Admission Ticket at the time of the Test. The Department will not be responsible
for any loss/postal delay of the Admission Ticket. No candidate will be admitted to the
Examination Hall without the Admission Ticket. However, duplicate Admission Ticket will
be issued on 08th July 2011 such candidates should bring two photographs and serial
number of application form after 12.00 Noon.

6. Important Points:
(i) Rounding off fractions of a mark is not permissible for determining the eligibility
requirement of a candidate.
(ii) All admissions made to the PGDCA course will be provisionally subject to verification of
their eligibility by the Mathematical Sciences Course Admission committee and
confirmation by the University.
(iii) Disputes, if any, arising out of or relating to any matter whatsoever, concerning the process
of admission shall be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the competent court in Delhi
only.

7. College Offering PGDCA Course:


The PGDCA Course is a full time, two semester course and is offered in the following
four colleges.

(i) Acharya Narendra Dev College, Kalka ji, New Delhi-110019


(ii) Deen Dyal Upadhyay College, Karampura, New Delhi-110015
(iii) Keshav Mahavidyalya, Rani Bagh, Delhi-110034
(iv) Shaheed Sukhdev College of Business Studies, Vivek Vihar, Delhi-110092
Course Fee : A Course fee of Rs.10,000/- for the complete course , in addition to
the college fee.
8. Number of Seats(in each college) : Unreserved : 16, SC : 5,ST: 2, OBC: 8.
9. Course Structure: Under revision subject to approval of Academic Council.
