Technology Integration Form – COLLABORATION

GENERAL INFORMATION
Selected Technology/Resource Name: Age/Grade Level: Technology/Resource Type:
Popplet Application and Website
Source: (Web address, company name, etc.)

Associated Learning Standard(s): The resource may be generally applicable, if so, simply state that. List any ISTE-S standards that
seem to naturally align with the selected resource.
This tool meets standards 1, 2, and 3 of the ISTE standards for teachers. Standard 1 is met by the tool allowing for teachers to
create virtual environments for their students to collaborate in their learning. Popplet met standard 2 by providing different tools
within the program that allow for students to convey their thoughts in a variety of ways. Standard 3 is met by the tool mimicking
real world profession collaborate work. As for the standards for students, the tool hits the mark for standards 1, 2, 3, 4, and 6.

RESOURCE DESCRIPTION
Give a brief description of the technology/resource.
Popplet is like a digital white board with text bubbles. It allows users to post bubbles, called popples that can be filled with either
text, images, videos, or links. Then users can create popples on the web page, called a canvas, which functions sort of like a white
board. Users can create popples in any space of the canvas by double clicking, and they can then manipulate the popples in
different ways. The popple text bubble can alter colors, the text within the popple can be enlarged or shrank, and users can
manually draw inside the popple. Last but not least, the canvas can then be saved and shared via different social media platforms
or email. Once shared, the people who were given access to the presentation will be able to edit it as well.

INTEGRATION IDEA – COLLABORATION

How might you integrate this resource in a lesson plan to promote collaboration among students in your classroom, or among
students and others outside of the classroom? I would have my class use the program as a tool to create a timeline of
historic dates. Similarly, I could have the students use the tool as a mind map where they could collaborate their ideas
on the canvas.

VALUE-ADDED EXPLANATION
 Based on the “value-added rating scale” above, how would you rate the technology integration you described, using the
selected resource?
 Explain your rating based on the rubric indicators.
I would rate the technology at a 2. I feel that Popple could bring more depth to certain lesson plans, especially certain content
areas. However, the tools it provides are similar to other tools that are less digital. The collaborative aspect of the program is
awesome, and can make group work very interactive between students. I especially feel this tool would shine within English
classrooms where the class is covering story telling.
