Difference between the lathe and the


milling machine

Characteristic of a punching
- Proper clearance between punch and matrix.

function of lever and in a few blows could damage both the punch and the other parts that
make up the punching station.
- In case of punching stainless material. It is recommended that the punches have an
inclination in the cutting area to reduce power and decrease the vibration and noise
produced at the time of punching.

Punching and die cutting


Punching and tightening are shearing operations in which the blades are in the form of
closed curved lines that follow the edges of a punch and a die. Basically, these cutting
operations are equal and their difference is primarily a definitional issue. In the die cutting,
the piece of material that cuts the punch, which is usually called a die, is the piece to be
produced, so that larger burrs and other undesirable details must be left in the band. In the
punching, the cut piece is the waste, while the rest of the band is the piece to be produced.
Both operations are usually carried out in mechanical presses of various types.
