Team 1‘s Multimodal Project Proposal

By Peter Huntley and Nicholas Alexander

Overview: Our project is about tattoos and how they play a role in expressing ourselves and our
cultures. Our audience will be other students in college so that we can teach them tattoos are a
form of art not a sign of danger. By reviewing different styles, tradition, preparation, and overall
art of tattoos. The modes of presentation we will be using in our multimodal project are
Linguistic, Visual, Aural, Spatial and Gestural. We will use linguistic modes throughout our
presentation whether its text on slides or us delivering our pitches. Visual modes that we plan on
using are pictures and videos. Aural modes will be the sound our speech when we present and
sound from any videos we include. Spatial modes will be used in the presentation when
designing our slides and placing pictures and text on them. Lastly, gestural mode will be used in
our presentation with the body language we use to present.
Project Plan: Will began with history of tattoos and how they have evolved overtime. Different
styles adapted over time. Tattoos in different cultures. The meaning of tattoos within cultures and
society. How to prepare for tattoos. What equipment is needed. How has the equipment or
technology has changed over time. To find more information on this subject we will research on
our computers looking for scholarly articles as well as interview with professional tattoo artist
that we have worked with for our own tattoos. We will hold group meetings at the library and
discuss for 1 hour.
Justification: This proposal is appropriate in the manner that it will help explain and give a
general understanding in the world of ink. This is achieved by showing how tattoos are viewed in
other cultures, their significance, whether it is inappropriate or encouraged. The proposal is also
justified by how tattoos have progressed due to advancements in technology. But as well as how
tattoos have become a symbol of art in today's society.

Conclusion: Once the presentation is created we plan to present it to a group of mutual friends

and get feedback on what we need to improve on or fix. Tattoos are not a brand or mark

signifying something bad but a form of self expression and family heritage. A symbol of art.

With the proposal we will exceed expectations.
