Poseidon, god of the sea and one of the twelve Olympians looked at Odysseus with

rage. Odysseus had blinded Poseidon’s son, Polyphemus, and now dared to use his oceans to
travel? Ignoring others warnings, Poseidon raised his right hand and conjured a ferocious storm
like none before, putting it in Odysseus’s path.
“This will teach you, insolent mortal.” Poseidon’s eyes glowed with a fearsome blue as
he looked down from the heavens on Odysseus’s ship.
It had been a clear day and no one on Odysseus’s ship had expected for such a storm to
appear. Odysseus and his crew scrambled to lower the sails, but it was already too late.
Waves slammed against the hull, tossing it’s passengers around as it tried to stay afloat. Rain
pelted the ship, making an almost unbearable pounding noise. One of Odysseus’s unlucky
crew members tried to make his way below deck, but slipped and slid down the edge of the boat
and was tossed into the raging currents.
Odysseus screamed and motioned for his crew members to get below deck, but it
was too late. A massive wave was coming right towards the boat. As he looked up at the
wave, time seemed to slow down around him. A calm, but powerful, voice entered his head
This is for Polyphemus… and tears filled his eyes, as Odysseus realized his mistake. After
what seemed like forever, he felt the rushing current from the wave wash over his body,
knocking him out instantly.
Poseidon looked down from the heavens as Odysseus ship disappeared into the raging
current, seemingly pleased. He snapped his fingers, and the sea was calm once more.
