Frequently Asked Questions

GENERAL

Does it make a difference whether I'm applying as an individual or an organisation?

It doesn't matter if you apply as an organisation or as an individual.

Can we apply with a group of people of multiple organisations?

The call is open to ONE representative of an organisation or an individual. This means ONE
applicant. Therefore that applicant would be the workshop participant. You can mention in your
application any partnerships and collaborations. These can be people you actively work with
and apportion some budget i.e. fees to. BUT we only accept applications from ONE applicant.

Are you more focused on research itself or on the outcomes?

We encourage creativity and engagement of others in research processes. These can be
experts or people engaged with or affected by the topic you are researching. So, the entire
process of action research and outcomes is of interest.

I'm not a citizen of the country where my idea is based, but I live and work here, is that a
problem?
It is not about your nationality, but your residential location. See call PDF page 4: "... are based
or active in EU/ EFTA Member States and in the wider European neighbourhood".

The duration of the grant is 14 months. Is it a problem if my project finishes earlier?

That is totally fine. But you will not receive the final instalment until the end of the grants period,
which is then still 14 months.
BUDGET

Where can I find the template for the budget?

It's at the end of the application form:

Should we include the costs of workshop participation in the budget?

No, we pay for the workshop, so it's not part of your budget for the project.

The European Cultural Foundation pays for the workshop, but do you also include the
travel expenses and accommodation?
We pay for travel, accommodation, hospitality, and workshop fees. Nothing of this needs to be
included in your budget.

Do you have limits how much can be spent on each group of expenditure (proportions
etc)?
We do not have an official limit on each budget category in the template. However, we would
encourage applicants to not place high fees i.e. staff costs and disregard other expenditure.

What do you mean by the terms "development" and "review", as well as

“communication” in the budget template?
Materials/development could be for example: tangible goods such as equipment relevant for this
category.
Research / desk review: your costs associated with researching your idea, which can be non-
academic or academic.
Communication: can be anything from website building, to print materials, to public events.

Can the operating partners/potential collaborators also be organisations that are

currently receiving a grant from your foundation?
Yes, they can be, but we do not encourage any part of this grant to be rewarded to them within
your project, as they already receive funding from us in a different way.
Should operational partners listed in the budget table be confirmed partners of the
project?
In the budget form, 'operational partners' are those who have already agreed to work with you
on your project.

How do I mention voluntary work? Does it have to be a part of the budget?

Please mention it in the application form in the texts somewhere, no need to include it in the
budget.

PAYMENT
When will the selected grantees receive the first payment?
The grant is paid in two instalments: 70% on agreement and signature of the contract, and the
rest is paid after the final reporting.

REPORTING
When and how do I report about the project?
There is an interim report due 6 months after the start of the grant period, and a final report due
after the 14 months grant period.
