Camp of the Woods, Kitchen Staff, Speculator New York

Kitchen Staff Member, I worked 50 hours a week doing food prep, set up and tear down,
opening/ and closing the kitchen. I learned a lot about keeping things cleaned and
organized, and the basics of food service and food regulations. I also learned about
teamwork and working with people that I didn’t get along with. Overall, however, it was
a really good learning experience. It was to be apart of a staff at a well known Christian
Summer Camp, and I learned how to be independent and adapt to a difficult situation
working long hours and being eight hours away from home.

Jammin’ Java, Eastern University Student Café

The Jammin’ Java is Eastern University’s student café. It’s a laid back atmosphere but it
can also get extremely busy between classes. However, it’s a really nice atmosphere to
just hang out with friends. Eastern hosted it’s coffee houses here so it also has that
musical/ artistic element to it as well. I learned the basics of how to make coffee, register,
and my people skills also developed a lot by dealing with so many different kinds of
students, faculty and visitors. I really enjoyed the atmosphere and this was my first real
coffee job do I learned a lot.

Starbucks, Camp Hill Store :

Starbucks is one of my more recent jobs as I worked at the Camp Hill. I learned a lot
more about coffee, but it was more stressful working here because the Camp Hill
Starbucks is the busiest store in the district. I didn’t enjoy my experience as much at
Starbucks because it is a lot more fast paced and there is more focus about the system
about how things are done. I did not get as much time making drinks but I still learned a
lot about how to deal with a lot of things at once under time pressure and adapting to
difficult situations.

I work here currently during the school year, mainly in the kitchen. It’s a lot of food prep

Lottie Nelson Dining Hall at Messiah College

This was my first ever job in food service. I worked here in high school and learned the
basics of food service and customer service in Messiah ‘s cafeteria . It was definetly a
good learning experience for a first job and I enjoyed the people and the atmosphere .
