Education and/or Training Required:

 You must have a doctorate in medicine


 You can get one from Emory University ($69,502), Florida State University ($22,575), and East
Virginia Medical School ($56,382)
 To become a cardiologist you must have at least 4 years of medical school, a 3 year residency,
and a cardiology fellowship for 2-3 years
 A state license in medical practice in necessary in most states
 Board certification is required my most employers

Responsibilities and Daily Activities:

 Diagnose and treat heart disease


 Promote heart health and provide rehabilitation for people who have underwent heart
procedures
 Perform heart procedures, like certain surgeries
 Unclog arteries

 The BLS expects this position to grow by 14%


 The earning potential is a median of $361,394 (for non-invasive cardiologist), $393,113 (for
invasive cardiologist), $256,003 (for pediatric cardiologist)

Self-Reflection:

I would want to do this job because I get to help people. I would want to be the invasive kind of
cardiologist because they get to perform the surgeries and work in a hospital. The paycheck also helps.
