Solution

The paper tray and the duplex print (print mode) can be controlled at two points with the new form
tool "Smart Forms" available as of Release 4.6C:
First of all, there is the option for each form page to select the paper tray via the paper resource.
TRY01 stands for tray 1
TRY02 stands for tray 2
TRY03 stands for tray 3
For more information, refer to the online documentation.
In addition, you can set the print mode for the current page at the same location:
DEFAULT - does not change print mode
SIMPLEX - simplex printing
DUPLEX - duplex printing ("long edge binding")
TUMBLE DUPLEX - two page printing ("short edge binding")

The second place where the print mode and the paper tray can be controlled is via the appropriate
settings for the selected output device in transaction SPAD.
You can set the print mode as well as a paper tray there.

How is the actual paper tray or print mode determined?

The values set in the Smart Form take precedence. That means, if a paper tray is selected in a Smart
Form for the current page (resp. SIMPLEX, DUPLEX or TUMBLE print mode), then this setting is used
from the Smart Form and the settings from the output device are ignored.
If, however, NO paper tray is selected on the first page to be printed (the DEFAULT print mode), then
the value set in the output device is used.
Examples:
In Smart Form EXAMPLE1, no print mode is set on the FIRST page.In SPAD, the DUPLEX print mode
is selected for the output device LP01.If EXAMPLE1 is output to printer LP01, then it will be printed
DUPLEX, because no print mode is specified in the Smart Form, but, there was one set for the output
device LP01.

In Smart Form EXAMPLE2, the paper resource "TRY01" is selected on the FIRST page.In SPAD, paper
tray 1 has been selected for the output device LP01.If EXAMPLE2 is output to printer LP01, then the
form will be drawn from paper tray 3 because this paper tray has been specified in the Smart
Form;the settings for output device LP01 are ignored.

In Smart Form EXAMPLE3, no paper resource is set on the FIRST page.In SPAD, paper tray 2 has been
selected for the output device LP01.If EXAMPLE3 is output to printer LP01, then the form is drawn
from paper tray 2 because no paper tray is specified in the Smart Form, but one has been selected
for the output device LP01.
