Janssen, Second Again in Indiana, Remains Confident

Indiana, played host to Round 4 of the
ATV Motocross National Championship
series. This historic facility is a favorite
for many riders and is one of Cody
Janssen’s favorite tracks on the tour.
Janssen came into Ironman on this, his
birthday weekend, with some
momentum from previous races. At
each race he’s been fast enough to win
but has came up just short by mere
feet, a second or two tops. Cody would
look to get over the hump and put his
#25 on the top of the podium in Indiana.

Cody Janssen looked phenomenal in Friday practice and hoped that would carry over to the weekend of
racing. However, a mechanical failure would hinder him in moto one. Cracked engine cases had his
Honda TRX450R not running at 100%. Janssen later admitted he was fearful that the machine wouldn’t
make it to the finish, but he was able to limp it to the finish line and still salvage a 2nd place finish. The
now 26-year-old spent the remainder of his birthday changing the engine on his ATV so he’d have a shot
at the overall victory on Sunday, but it wasn’t meant to be on this weekend. Cody made a spectacular
pass to get into second place and put a great deal of pressure on eventual winner Nick Moser. For more
laps than not, Cody Janssen was the fastest rider on the racetrack, but he was unable to make the
winning pass. Janssen’s 2-2 finish earned him 2nd overall on the weekend in the Junior 25+ Class, making
it three runner-up finishes in a row. He is still just 9 points out of the lead in the Championship
standings.

“So close again this weekend.” Janssen stated

with a sigh. “My speed is there to win these
[races] and I’ve changed up a few things with
my [starting technique], but to be so close we
have to start winning these things….But I’m
fortunate because I honestly didn’t think I
was going to make it to the finish yesterday,
so to salvage a 2nd isn’t as bad as it could’ve
been. I’m going to keep improving myself,
and we’re going to go home and improve the
bike a little bit, and I’m 100% confident that
 we’ll put this thing on the top of the box….Thanks to all who continue to believe in me!”

Cody Janssen’s speed and consistency cannot be
