Language Arts- Fully Meeting Expectations

Student 6 is filly meeting expectations in grade 1 Language Arts. He is enthusiastic about reading, uses
appropriate vocabulary and responds with purpose during class discussions. His ability to make
connections between reading materials and his environment is strong. He uses appropriate capitals,
finger spaces, and periods; ensuring to use correct punctuation in his writing. He would benefit from re-
reading the same book and working on adding expression. This would evolve with practice and support.
Ask him to continue to read at home, with expression, by changing his tone according to the
punctuation in the text.

Numeracy- Fully Meeting Expectations

Student 6 has shown improvement in his math skills. He demonstrates his knowledge in a variety of
ways including helping his peers. Student 6 can recognize numbers from zero to 100, counts by 1s, 2s,
5s, and 10s to 100, using skip counting techniques with minor assistance. One way to support him
further would be to practice skip counting at home in a variety of settings.

Social Responsibility- Fully Meeting Expectations

Student 6 is welcoming, friendly, kind, and helpful when contributing to the classroom and school
community. He contributes and participates in classroom and group discussions. He shows an emerging
sense of responsibility, generally following classroom rules, and can identify simple ways to improve the
school, community, or world.

Grade 1- Student 5

Language Arts- Meets Expectations

Student 5 is meeting expectations in grade 1 Language Arts. She is increasingly confident and self-
reliant, recognizing an increase number of sight words and using print conventions effectively. She
makes use of some descriptive language and takes risks to use new words or patterns. Student 5
demonstrates a good use of both capitals, small letters, and generally writes in sentence form; mostly
using correct punctuation. An area that would further benefit her is reading with re-reading the same
book and work on adding expression.

Numeracy- Fully Meeting Expectations

Student 5 is exceeding expectations in grade 1 numeracy. She independently applies mathematical


concepts to everyday problems, shows curiosity and takes risks. She accurately sorts, orders, and
classifies objects using two or more attributes, recognizes and uses numbers zero to 100, and counts by
1s, 2s, 5s, and 10s with ease.

Social Responsibility- Fully Meeting Expectations

Student 5 is exceeding expectation in Social Responsibility. Student 5 is welcoming, friendly, kind, and
helpful. She participates in, and contributes to classroom and group activities, often taking on extra
responsibilities; such as: cleaning, garbage pick-up, and helping her peers. She is fair, respectful, and
demonstrates a clear sense of responsibility in the classroom and an emerging sense of wanting to make
the world a better place.

Language Arts- Not Yet Within Expectations

Student 21 often seeks support with his Language assignments. He is beginning to match consonant
sounds and letters in familiar words. He recognizes that books tell stories, he will often seek out an
adult or peer to assist with reading. Student 21 will use picture clues to retell some events and uses
illustrations to provide details. An area that would further benefit him would be daily home reading.

Numeracy- Fully Meeting Expectations

Student 21 is fully meeting expectations in grade one Numeracy. With some prompting, he identifies
ways that mathematical concepts and skills can be uses to solve everyday problems. He recognizes and
uses number from zero to 100, counts by 1s, 2s, 5s, and 10s, with minor assistance and can use
appropriate mathematical vocabulary by correctly using simple terms. An area that can be further
developed at home is using mental math skills that apply to everyday situations.

Social Responsibility- Meets Expectations

Student 21 is meeting expectations is social responsibility. He often requires prompting to participate in


and contribute to classroom and group an activates. He can identify simple problems, with help and
generates strategies unique to his learning style.
