Realization
Head and body (yellow color):
The head and body are crocheted in a single piece from top to bottom and have to be filled
with stuffing as you go.
To avoid a hole at the beginning of your project, you need to start it with a double
adjustable ring (loop twice the yarn on your finger and when you finish the round pull the
remaining yarn to close the hole):
Rnd 1: 6 single crochet stitches.
Rnd 2: 2 single crochet in each stitch from last round (12
stitches).
Rnd 3: *1 single crochet, 2 single crochet in next stitch*, repeat
from *to* 6 times (18 stitches).
Rnd 4: *2 single crochet, 2 single crochet in next stitch*, repeat

Beak (orange color):
Work a foundation chain of 12 stitches
(do not close the into a circle) and

Rnd 5: Single crochet in each stitch.
Rnd 6: 15 single crochet, 3 single crochet in next stitch, 16 single crochet, 3 single crochet

Rnd 7: Single crochet in each stitch.

Make a knot, cut the yarn with scissors and fill with stuffing.
Sew the beak to the face by its opening, placing it between rounds 24 & 34 of the head.
With black yarn and chain stitches, embroider the mouth around the beak and the nostrils.

Eyes:
Crochet all pieces twice.
Eyeballs:
The eyeballs must be filled with stuffing as you go. Into a double adjustable ring crochet:
Black color:
Rnd 1: 6 single crochet stitches.
Rnd 2: 2 single crochet in each stitch from last round (12 stitches).
Rnd 3: *1 single crochet, 2 single crochet in next stitch*, repeat from *to* 6 times (18
stitches).
Switch to white color:
Rnd 4: *2 single crochet, 2 single crochet in next stitch*, repeat from *to* 6 times (24
stitches).
Rnd 5: *3 single crochet, 2 single crochet in next stitch*, repeat from *to* 6 times (30

Switch to yellow color:
Rnd 6: Single crochet in each stitch.
Rnd 7: *3 single crochet, 1 decrease (2 single crochet closed together)*, repeat from *to* 6
times (24 stitches).
Rnd 8: *2 single crochet, 1 decrease (2 single crochet closed together)*, repeat from *to* 6
times (18 stitches).
Rnd 9: *1 single crochet, 1 decrease (2 single crochet closed together)*, repeat from *to* 6

Make a knot and cut the yarn with scissors. With the tapestry needle sew up and down the
yarn around each stitch from last round and pull tightly to close.
Eyelids (Yellow color):
Into a double adjustable ring crochet:
Rnd 1: 6 single crochet stitches.
Rnd 2: 2 single crochet in each stitch from last round (12 stitches).
Rnd 3: *1 single crochet, 2 single crochet in next stitch*, repeat from *to* 6 times (18
stitches).
Rnd 4: *2 single crochet, 2 single crochet in next stitch*, repeat from *to* 6 times (24
stitches).
Rnd 5: *3 single crochet, 2 single crochet in next stitch*, repeat from *to* 6 times (30
stitches).
Rnd 6 to 9: Single crochet in each stitch.
Switch to black color and join the borderline together with a single crochet row of 15
stitches plus a picot stitch on the last single crochet (that’s the tail of the eyelashes).
IMPORTANT: When you crochet the second eyelid, work the picot stitch on the first
single crochet instead of on the last.
Make a knot and cut the yarn with scissors.

Thread a tapestry needle with turquoise yarn. On each eyeball embroider a chain stitch
round over the color exchange between black and white in order to make the irises. With
white yarn embroider 2 dots of different sizes on each eye in order to illuminate them.

Sew the eyeballs to the head, to both sides of the beak and between rounds 18 & 25.
Then, place the eyelids a bit above the eyeballs and with the eyelash‘tails towards out and
sew.

Feet and legs (Make 2):


Each foot and leg are crocheted in a single piece and have to be filled with stuffing as you
go.
Orange color:
Into a double adjustable
ring crochet:
Rnd 1: 6 single crochet
stitches.
Rnd 2: 2 single crochet in
each stitch from last round
(12 stitches).
Rnd 3: *1 single crochet, 2
single crochet in next
stitch*, repeat from *to* 6
times (18 stitches).
Rnd 4: Single crochet in
each stitch.
Rnd 5: *2 single crochet, 2
single crochet in next stitch*, repeat from *to* 6 times (24 stitches).
Rnd 6: Single crochet in each stitch.
Make a knot and cut the yarn with scissors.
Crochet another 2 pieces following the above instructions. Once you finished the
3rd piece, do not cut the yarn off. Sew the 3 pieces together by 3 stitches and
continue crocheting the foot around them:
Rnd 1: 64 single crochet stitches.
Rnd 2 to 4: Single crochet in each stitch.
Rnd 5: *6 single crochet, 1 decrease (2 single crochet closed together)*, repeat from *to* 8
times (56 stitches).
Rnd 6 to 8: Single crochet in each stitch.
Rnd 9: *5 single crochet, 1 decrease (2 single crochet closed together)*, repeat from *to* 8
times (48 stitches).
Rnd 10 to 12: Single crochet in each stitch.
Rnd 13: *4 single crochet, 1 decrease (2 single crochet closed together)*, repeat from *to*
8 times (40 stitches).
Rnd 14 & 15: Single crochet in each stitch.

Rnd 17 & 18: Single crochet in each stitch.
Start crocheting the heel back and forth:
Row 1: 12 single crochet, 1 slip stitch (13 stitches).
Row 2: 6 single crochet, 1 slip stitch (7 stitches).
Row 3: 7 single crochet, 1 slip stitch (8 stitches).
Row 4: 8 single crochet, 1 slip stitch (9 stitches).
Row 5: 9 single crochet, 1 slip stitch (10 stitches).
Row 6: 10 single crochet, 1 slip stitch (11 stitches).
Row 7: 11 single crochet, 1 slip stitch (12 stitches).
Row 8: 12 single crochet, 1 slip stitch (13 stitches).

Rnd 6 to 13: Single crochet in each stitch.
Switch to yellow color:
Rnd 14: Single crochet in each stitch.
Rnd 15: Through front loops only crochet 2 single crochet and 1 picot stitch, repeating this
till the end of the round.
Make a knot and cut the yarn with scissors.
Sew the legs by their openings underneath the body, adding more stuffing if necessary.

Wings (yellow color):


Make 2. The wings are crocheted from bottom to top, starting on the feathers and have to
be filled lightly with stuffing as you go.
Feather “A”:
Into a double adjustable ring crochet:
Rnd 1: 6 single crochet stitches.
Rnd 2: 2 single crochet in each stitch from last round (12 stitches).
Rnd 3: *1 single crochet, 2 single crochet in next stitch*, repeat from *to* 6 times (18
stitches).
Rnd 4 to 11: Single crochet in each stitch.

Make a knot and cut the yarn with scissors.
Feather “B”:
Into a double adjustable ring crochet:

Do not cut the yarn off. Sew the feathers together by 3 stitches, placing feathers “A”
and “C” on the sides, and continue crocheting the wings around them:

Swimming Goggles:
Lens (sky-blue color):
Make 4. Into a double adjustable ring
crochet:
Rnd 1: 6 single crochet stitches.
Rnd 2: 2 single crochet in each stitch from
last round (12 stitches).
Rnd 3: *1 single crochet, 2 single crochet
in next stitch*, repeat from *to* 6 times (18
stitches).
Rnd 4: *2 single crochet, 2 single crochet in next stitch*, repeat from *to* 6 times (24
stitches).

Rnd 5: *3 single crochet, 2 single crochet in next stitch*, repeat from *to* 6 times (30
stitches).
Rnd 6: *4 single crochet, 2 single crochet in next stitch*, repeat from *to* 6 times (36

Make a knot and cut the yarn with scissors.
Face 2 of these circles by their wrong sides and, with black yarn, crochet them together as
following:
Rnd 1: *5 single crochet, 2 single crochet in next stitch*, repeat from *to* 6 times (42
stitches).
Rnd 2 to 5: Single crochet in each stitch.
Make a knot and cut the yarn with scissors.
Bridge (black color):
Work a foundation chain of 10
stitches and on them crochet 2
single crochet rows. Make a knot
and cut the yarn with scissors.
Sew the bridge’s endings to the
lens, over the latest sky blue
round. With white yarn embroider
a # on each lens to imitate the
gloss over them.
Adjustable head straps (black color):
Make 2. Work a foundation
chain of 40 stitches. Over them
crochet a single crochet row of
25 stitches, leaving without
crocheting the latest 15 chain
stitches of the foundation chain.
Work 15 chain stitches. Then,
crochet a single crochet row
over both groups of 15 chain
stitches, in order to get the strap in
a “Y” shape. Finally, crochet a
single crochet row all around the
external side of the whole strap.
Close the round with a slip stitch.
Sew the adjustable straps, by their
double endings, to the lens, over
the latest sky-blue round.
Place the swimming goggles around the head, tying the adjustable straps over the back of
the head.

Ending details
Sew the beak to the face by its opening, placing it between rounds 24 & 34 of the head.
With black yarn and chain stitches, embroider the mouth around the beak and the nostrils.
Sew the eyeballs to the head, to both sides of the beak and between rounds 18 & 25.
Then, place the eyelids a bit above the eyeballs and with the eyelash‘tails towards out and
sew.
Sew the legs by their openings underneath the body, adding more stuffing if necessary.
Sew the wings to both sides of the body, placing feathers “A” towards front.
Place the flotation device around the duck’s waist.
With pink yarn embroider a backstitch round 1 round above the swimming cap’s border
and 2 paralell lines across the swiming cap’s centre to imitate the sewing stitches.
Put the swimming cap on the duck’s head.
Place the swimming goggles around the head, tying the adjustable straps over the back of
the head.
