INTRODUCTION
This machine is used for decorative stitches. This machine is not commonly used.
This machine can be used as over lock machine. The Flat Lock Stitch can also be
used to serge non-bulky seams. With differential feed and belt drive mechanism
makes the operation smooth, quiet and fast. Ideal for sewing knit fabric.

OBJECTIVE
 To learn about flatlock sewing machine.
 To know about threading of flatlock sewing machine.
 To get clear idea about how flatlock sewing machine works.

ABSTRACT
The purpose of this experiment to understand the threading of flat lock stitch
machine 3 thread & 2 thread, this experiment provided a mechanism of flat lock
stitch. The Flat Lock Stitch is used decoratively to achieve the look of applied trim
on a garment, craft or home decorator projects. Special decorative threads are used
for a textured and dramatic embellishment effect.

MATERIAL/ EQUIPMENT
Flat Locks Machine
Thread

PROCEDURE
3-Threads
1. Turn off and Flip & Open Cover M/C
Ensure that the power switch on the machine is in the off position. To expose
the threading pathway loops and hooks, flip down the looper cover door,
which is located in the bottom left-hand corner of the machine's front.

2. Raise Machine’s Presser Foot

The presser foot is the metal object in the shape of a foot that holds the fabric
flat while you feed it through the flat lock sewing machine. To release tension
from the tension discs and make the machine simpler to thread, lift this foot
up by raising the lever beside it.
3. Turn the Hand-wheel & Set the Needles in Highest Position
Turn the machine's hand-wheel until the red line on the wheel meets the arrow
in the needle position display. This indicates that the machine's three needles
are positioned highest.

4. Place Selected Thread Spools on Thread Stand Spool Holders

Flat lock machine's retractable thread stand is located at the back. In each of
the spool holders on the thread stand, place a spool of thread. Each spool's end
of thread should be inserted into the thread guide located at the top of the
thread stand.

5. Slip Threads Through Pre-Tension Guides, Tension Disk & Oil Tray
As if you were sliding dental floss between your teeth, insert the end of each
thread into the corresponding pre-tension guide. Pull each thread into the
tension disc by guiding it through the grove in front of the pre-tension guide
& then pass each ends of 3-needle thread under the oil tray to take-up lever.

6. Take-Up Lever, Needle Bar Guide & Three Needle

After passed the ends of thread from oil tray then ends of thread take from
three-holes guider and feed ends of thread between take up lever, and after it,
ends of thread pass into needle bar guider which placed above needle bar and
then thread passes through further small guider which inserted above three
needle and after it ends of thread feed into three needle eye horizontally
through threading hook tool.

2-Threads
If we need chain stitch both side of the fabric, then we feed two thread for loop, if
we need one side chain stitch then deny or neglected the 5th thread.

1. Pull 4 number thread from thread stand guide into the tension disc by guiding
it through the pipe guider in right-hand of the pre-tension guide & then pass
end of 4 number looper’s thread underneath the oil tray to tension motion &
after it 4 number thread feed into looper.

2. Pull 5 number thread from thread stand guide into the tension disc by
guiding it through the pipe guider in right-hand of the pre-tension guide &
then pass end of 4 number looper’s thread under the machine to small
tension motion spring & then 5 number thread pass through take-up lever by
tweezer which inserted under the machine after it 5 number thread feed into
bottom looper through threading hook or tweezer.

THEORY
Flat locking is a form of seam that you do on a serger or overlocker machine and it
created seam that is flat on both sides, stretchable, and provides a decorative aspect
to the garment because both sides expose the thread. Layers fold to the underside
and there is no seam allowance on a flatlock.

DISCUSSION QUESTION
Q1) How many needles are in a flatlock machine?
Flatlock sewing machines normally come with 2-3 needles. For the bottom cover
stitch machine 2 needle threads pass through the material and inter loop with 1 looper
thread with the stitch set on the underside of the seam.

Q2) What is looper in flatlock machine?

Loopers are used to produce thread loops that extend from the needle thread to the
fabric's edges, enclosing the fabric's edges within the seam.

Q3) What is spreader in sewing machine?

A third stitch forming device known as a spreader is used in some stitch types to
carry the sewing thread from one stitch forming device to another.

CONCLUSION
By this experiment we came able to know about all the threading of the flat lock
sewing machine.
