cabin​ ​in​ ​Kentucky​ ​-​ ​perfectly
represents​ ​the​ ​Republican​ ​ideal
of​ ​personal​ ​betterment​ ​through
hard​ ​work.
​ ​ ​ ​ ​ ​ ​ ​ ​ ​ ​ ​ ​It​ ​is​ ​a​ ​big​ ​step​ ​for​ ​Mr.
Lincoln,​ ​who​ ​five​ ​years​ ​ago​ ​took
a​ ​devastating​ ​loss​ ​in​ ​his​ ​attempt
for​ ​United​ ​States​ ​Senator,​ ​as
being​ ​a​ ​senator​ ​was​ ​originally
prefered​ ​by​ ​him​ ​to​ ​being
President.​ ​Lots​ ​of​ ​collaboration
with​ ​his​ ​peers​ ​and​ ​networking

Gettysburg
Speech
​ ​ ​ ​ ​ ​ ​ ​ ​ ​ ​ ​ ​In​ ​the​ ​midst​ ​of​ ​the​ ​war
ripping​ ​apart​ ​the​ ​country,
President​ ​Lincoln​ ​has​ ​made​ ​an
unprecedented​ ​move​ ​in​ ​the
War​ ​Between​ ​the​ ​States​ ​today,
November​ ​19,​ ​1863.​ ​The​ ​great
orator​ ​that​ ​he​ ​is,​ ​Lincoln​ ​made
a​ ​tribute​ ​speech​ ​to​ ​the​ ​soldiers
who​ ​died​ ​on​ ​the​ ​fields​ ​which​ ​he
made​ ​it​ ​on.​ ​This​ ​short​ ​yet
eloquent​ ​address​ ​will​ ​most
definitely​ ​influence​ ​the​ ​future
not​ ​only​ ​the​ ​war​ ​but​ ​the​ ​future
of​ ​the​ ​country​ ​itself.
​ ​ ​ ​ ​ ​ ​ ​ ​ ​ ​ ​ ​President​ ​Lincoln’s
speech​ ​comes​ ​fresh​ ​out​ ​of
Gettysburg,​ ​Pennsylvania,
where​ ​a​ ​recent​ ​battle​ ​killed
several​ ​thousand​ ​soldiers​ ​in
what​ ​seemingly​ ​appears​ ​one​ ​of
the​ ​most​ ​bloodiest​ ​days​ ​in
American​ ​history.​ ​Citing​ ​the
principles​ ​of​ ​the​ ​founding​ ​of
the​ ​United​ ​States​ ​and​ ​its
inherent​ ​recognition​ ​of​ ​the
equality​ ​of​ ​all​ ​men,​ ​he​ ​called
the​ ​United​ ​States​ ​a​ ​“nation
under​ ​God”​ ​and​ ​declared​ ​that
the​ ​many​ ​soldiers​ ​who​ ​died​ ​in
Gettysburg​ ​will​ ​not​ ​have​ ​died
without​ ​a​ ​purpose​ ​-​ ​their
sacrifice​ ​will​ ​always​ ​be
remembered.​ ​The​ ​war’s​ ​tides
are​ ​evermore​ ​turning​ ​in​ ​the
Union’s​ ​favor​ ​despite​ ​these
losses,​ ​which​ ​signal​ ​an
eventual​ ​end​ ​to​ ​this​ ​crisis​ ​and​ ​a
personal​ ​triumph​ ​for​ ​the
leadership​ ​of​ ​President​ ​Lincoln.

Joel​ ​Matteson​ ​declined​ ​to
comment​ ​on​ ​the​ ​effect​ ​of
Lincoln’s​ ​influence​ ​on​ ​the
election.
The​ ​Illinois​ ​State
legislature,​ ​at​ ​one​ ​point,​ ​looked
likely​ ​to​ ​throw​ ​their​ ​support
behind​ ​Lincoln​ ​in​ ​electing​ ​him
as​ ​United​ ​States​ ​Senator.
However,​ ​as​ ​time​ ​went​ ​on,
Lincoln​ ​became​ ​short​ ​of​ ​a​ ​few
necessary​ ​Independents​ ​who
refused​ ​to​ ​vote​ ​for​ ​the​ ​man
who​ ​worked​ ​so​ ​hard​ ​on​ ​his
campaign,​ ​endlessly​ ​speaking
with​ ​individual​ ​congressmen​ ​in
order​ ​to​ ​gain​ ​their​ ​approval.
After​ ​the​ ​reality​ ​of​ ​the​ ​situation
became​ ​inevitable,​ ​Lincoln
asked​ ​for​ ​his​ ​loyal​ ​supporters
to​ ​vote​ ​for​ ​Trumbull​ ​as​ ​he​ ​was
politically​ ​aligned​ ​with
Lincoln’s​ ​views​ ​more​ ​than
anyone​ ​else​ ​running.
The​ ​results​ ​apparently
were​ ​a​ ​shock​ ​to​ ​Lincoln,​ ​with
sources​ ​at​ ​Trumbull’s​ ​reception
saying​ ​that​ ​Lincoln​ ​thought
that​ ​this​ ​would​ ​be​ ​devastating
to​ ​his​ ​career​ ​and​ ​that​ ​fate​ ​was
already​ ​predestined​ ​against
him​ ​-​ ​leading​ ​those​ ​close​ ​to​ ​him
believe​ ​this​ ​is​ ​yet​ ​another​ ​face
of​ ​his​ ​melancholia.​ ​Only​ ​time
will​ ​tell​ ​if​ ​Lincoln​ ​shall​ ​run
again​ ​for​ ​any​ ​political​ ​office.

Haunting​ ​Murder
​ ​ ​ ​ ​ ​ ​ ​ ​ ​ ​ ​ ​For​ ​two​ ​weeks​ ​now​ ​the
nation​ ​has​ ​been​ ​mourning​ ​since
the​ ​death​ ​of​ ​President​ ​Abraham
Lincoln,​ ​brutally​ ​assassination
by​ ​John​ ​Wilkes​ ​Booth​ ​on​ ​April
15th,​ ​1865.​ ​As​ ​time​ ​passes​ ​more
evidence​ ​behind​ ​the
investigation​ ​comes​ ​in​ ​-​ ​and
today,​ ​two​ ​weeks​ ​after​ ​his​ ​death
-​ ​it​ ​is​ ​imperative​ ​that​ ​this
newspaper​ ​shares​ ​the​ ​final
moments​ ​of​ ​this​ ​beloved​ ​man​ ​in
memory​ ​of​ ​the​ ​service​ ​he’s​ ​done
to​ ​this​ ​country.
Booth​ ​made​ ​the
horrendous​ ​decision​ ​to​ ​kill​ ​Mr.
Lincoln​ ​after​ ​the​ ​President’s
statement​ ​on​ ​his​ ​support​ ​for​ ​the
suffrage​ ​of​ ​black​ ​males​ ​in
Louisiana​ ​as​ ​they​ ​have​ ​recently
been​ ​freed.​ ​Much​ ​anger​ ​had
been​ ​brought​ ​towards​ ​him​ ​even
after​ ​his​ ​triumph​ ​in​ ​reuniting
display​ ​remarkable​ ​resilience
of​ ​Abraham​ ​Lincoln.
