In fluid mechanical terms, every moving object were exposed to resistance. It cant be avoided.

However, the amount of resistance actually can be minimize.

Ever thought about how racing cars can achieved a speed of 200km/h?

Not only just because of its great amount of horsepower but the aerodynamics properties comes
into play.

Spoilers were created because of its ability to increase downforce and reduce drag. What are the
benefits? Not only for speed it also can give better tyre traction therefore enhancing stability and
also give less resistance thus reduce fuel consumption.. From the application of spoiler to cars, we
introduced the idea of tubercle to be applied onto the design of spoiler.

What are tubercles??

It is a configuration and structure on a humpback whales flipper. Tubercles are very unique because
of its ability to enhance the mobility of whales in the water during banking and turning.

The implementation of tubercles onto spoiler in theory should further enhance the aerodynamic
performance in terms of downforce and negative lift.

Comparison of performance between common spoiler and tubercles spoiler were made. The result
was tubercles was actually improved the aerodynamics performance by 48% in downforce and 15%
in drag. Thank you.
