    1. A rectangular storage tank is to have a capacity of 1.0m3 . If the tank is closed and the top
    is made of metal half as thick as the sides and base, use Lagrange’s method of undetermined
    multipliers to determine the dimensions of the tank for the total amount of metal used in
    its construction to be a minimum.

    2. A rectangular solid of maximum volume is to be cut from a solid sphere of radius r.
