Introduction
Thyroid hormones (THs) (thyroxine and triiodothyronine) are thought to be associated with a great number of biological processes
in vertebrates, comprising metabolism, growth, development, and reproduction. In addition, THs in maternal circulation can be
moved inside the eggs resulting to enhance larvae survival and performance. This investigation was carried out to examine the
impact of maternal thyroxine injection on offspring growth performance.
Results
The result illustrated that survival rate of Sterlet sturgeon larvae were regularly increased with thyroxine injection to broodstock
at a high dose (T10). Survival rate of larvae were greater in T10 treatment compared other group (P < 0.05; Fig 1 A). In addition,
specific growth rate was significantly greater in T1 and T10 groups than the control (P < 0.05; Fig 1 B).
