Mean, Std, Min/Max and Number of

Filtered Points in a Function Window

Aim
A user may want to know the average value of a particular log for a given
zone, for example:
• Calculate average PhiT (total porosity calculated log)
• Depth Range 3585-3620m
• Where Vcl < 40%

Workflow
1. Set up a filter in a function window based on desired conditions
2. Remove Points outside the filter
3. Create a raw crossplot based on the filtered points
4. Select all the points in the crossplot
5. Obtain a readout of the mean, min/max, Std and no. of points
1. In a function window set up a crossplot of the desired logs (i.e. depth
and porosity) to create a filter. Additional filters can be defined and
combined to specify the desired points
2. Remove the points outside the filter
Go to the
settings for the
newly created
filter/filters

and remove the

points outside
the filtered
ranges.
3. Create a raw crossplot based on the filtered points
Make a raw crossplot from the filtered data points in the
function window by selecting from the function bar (right of
screen).
4. Select the raw crossplot points

Use the selection box to select all

the points in the raw cross plot.
Once selected the points will
change to red in colour (as right).
Use the option ‘select using 2D
rectangle’ if not already
applied.
4. Obtain a readout of the mean
• Go to the settings for the
cross plot>Operations tab,
here the mean and std are
specified for the selected
points (Y-axis).
• The number of selected points
is also given. The min and
max are specified for the X-
axis.
• The axes used can be
alternated from the info tab to
obtain the additional min/max,
Mean and Std values.
