AURANGABAD AT A GLANCE

The dazzling city of Aurangabad, also called as the Heritage City is a hub of
diverse historical attractions. The city was founded in 1610 by Malik Amber
which completed 400 years in 2010. Being the fifth largest city in Maharashtra,
this time honoured destination arresting the attention of various people around
the world is the tourist capital of Maharashtra. Standing tall amidst the
whirlwind of metropolitan citites, THE CITY OF GATES continues to unfold
the legends of the past to the world.

Bibi ka maqbara

Having a striking resemblance to the Taj Mahal,the Bibi ka Maqbara is a


beautiful mausoleum of Rabia-ul-Daurani alias Dilras Banu Begum, the wife of
Mughal emperor Aurangzeb. It was constructed by Aurangzeb for his late wife.
This magnificent edifice stands tall and proud amidst the vivacious city of
Aurangabad.

Ajanta caves

The Ajanta caves is a set of 30 rock cut Buddhist caves that date back to the
period of second century BC.Previously, it was used as a retreat by the Buddhist
monks. The caves depict the serenity of Buddhism through its breathtaking and
elegant sculpture.

Daulatabad fort
The town of Daulatabad, once known as the Devgiri meaning the Hill of the
Gods is often hailed as one of the 'seven wonders of Maharashtra'. This
architectural marvel is believed to have been built in twelfth century. The most
distinctive quality of this historical asset is its location, from the zenith of which
one can get a mesmorising view of the entire city. It is built on a 200 metres
high conical hill which provides a strategic location for this grand fortess,
further enhanncing its architectural beauty.
Ellora Caves
The monument was carved out of the vertical face of the Charanandri hills. It
was built by the glorious Rashtrakuta Dynasty and partly by the Yadava
Dynasty.There are twelve Hindu ,seventeen Buddhist and five Jain caves. One
of the largest rock cut monastery temple and a world heritage site of UNESCO,
this magnificent piece of art leaves an important mark in the pages of history of
India.
