Truss Bridge Reflection

What I learned: I had to really look into how different truss bridges where designed and
constructed. What really helped me in designing this bridge was imagining a car driving over the
bridge and if the bridge could withstand the weight of a vehicle passing over without collapsing.
Keeping this in mind it was easier to build something that would be safe for people to use rather
than just placing lines together that looked that might look like a truss bridge.

National Educational Technology Standards for Students: Standard 4 4b: Students select and
use digital tools to plan and manage a design process that considers design constraints and
calculated risks.

Application of Skills Learned for the Future: This is a great project for students to learn
through trial and error. Students can design a digital blue print of their bridge and use that as a
guide while they attempt to use different materials as they create their truss bridge. Students can
discover what materials can withstand more weight through their process of trial and error.
