1.) At what point in the story were you most anxious about the return of pythias? When he had
to cross the river with the raging torrent

2.) a.) As the story begins, what are the reputations of Damon an Pythias, and Syracuse? Damon
and Pyyhias have the reputation of being noble and loyal , while Dyonisius is considered
treacherous and power hungry.

b.) How do these contrasting reputations set up the problem in the story? Because Dionysious is
such a tyrant he creates a stituation that test the friends loyalty

3.) a.) What does Damon agree to do for his friend? Damon agrees to act as a hostage for
Pythias.

b.) What does this dwcision tell you about the friendship od Damon and Pythias? Their
friendship is such that cither one would give his life for the other.

4.) a.)Why is Damon patient and not fearful as he waits for Pythias? Damon has faith that
Pythias will return as a promise.

b.) Could a friendship like the one between Damon and Pythias exist in our own times? I dont
think so because in this time people thinke more about them instead of thinking about other
people

5.)a.) How does the outcome of the story affect Dyonisius? Dyonisius is so touch by the
unselfishness of two friends that he spares Pythias` life.

b.) Compare and contrast Dionysius behavior at the beggining and at the end of the story.
Dyonisius behavior at the beggining of the story is cold-blooded and cruel, while at the end he
acts justly because he has been warmed by the friendship of Damon and Pythias.

6.) Using your knowledge of tyrants, decide whether the king`s change of heart is realistic? Yes it
was because he propably saw the true friendship there and remember some other same
expierence he had

ANALYSIS
SETTING: Grece, Syracuse

PLOT: When Damon was condemned to death and his friend had to save him
CLIMAX: When Pythias was going through a lot of problems like getting rob or crossing the river

RESOLUTION: When Pythias reach his objective arriving the place where his friend was about to
be killed and explained the tyrant his issue and let them free

CHARACTERS: Damon: Best friend of Pythias and the one ho was condemned for death by the
tyrant.

Pythias: Best friend of Damon and the one who saves him from being killed.
