Adaptations from Project 1
Octavia, Thin City
• Octavia the spider web city is suspended over the void between two
mountains with a web-like network of ropes, chains that serve as the
supporting foundation and medium of circulation for Octavia. The
rest of the city is suspended below the nets. The main element of this
city is the net- an organic form, intersections and tensile support that
becomes the main connection of Octavia. Octavia as the lives of the
inhabitants hang by a thread, which is also seen through the
architectural element of suspension.

• represented by the community in Jalan Bintang
Ersilia, Trading City
• Trading city- Ersilia the city bonded with strings of connection. The
bonds are held by blood, trade, authority and agency. When the
bonds become heavier and stronger, the inhabitants will leave. The
inhabitants built another powerful strings yet they abandoned it.
When travelling through Ersilia, it turned to be a dead, barren city. A
successful city is constructed with a strong structural members in
order to survive and last longer. Citizens of Ersilia abandoned the city
and further develop a new land.

• the over development of Jalan Bintang will soon gets its pay
Baucis, City of Eyes
• Bauscis, a city which break through the clouds, straight towards the
sky leaving just few slender stilts on the ground supporting each
other, the earth and the cities. Each stilt kept some distance from
each other, and they are just partially visible from ground level which
the top part already covered by clouds. They said the inhabitants
hate or afraid of the ground, and even they love the earth so much
until leaving no harm to it.

Leandra, Cities & Names
• Leandra has been protected by 2 Gods who are tiny to be found. The
Gods can be found in front of the door of the houses or hidden in the
kitchen. Even if the owners moved out the house, they remain
staying in the house. The Gods are called Penates and Lares. Both of
them bond together, comment on the family but quarrel barely.
Penates and Lares have a common trait which is gossiping about the
houses and cities. Whenever the night, you can hear the sounds of
the Gods made from the houses.

Melania, Cities & the Dead
• Melania, the city of never ending dialogue. Even as the dialogue
participant has died, the conversation continues on as normal, with
the absent participant replaced by a new one. It is a constant renewal
of population to sustain new roles and maintain the dialogue.
Renewal and significance is the main theme of Melania, as it reflects
how easily the inhabitants are replaced. as if their absence does not
bring impact to the routine of Melania.
