flow; analysis of unsteady one-dimensional and steady supersonic two-dimensional flows;
including the method of characteristics; small-disturbance theory with applications to supersonic
thin-airfoil theory.

layers. Laminar-flow instability theory; transition. Introduction to the mechanics of turbulence;
turbulent free shear flows and boundary layers.

AEROSP 523 (MECHENG 523). Computational Fluid Dynamics I

Prerequisite: AEROSP 325 or preceded or accompanied by MECHENG 520. (3 credits)
