1. Terminologies

a. Assessment is a systematic process of gathering, interpreting and acting upon data


related to student learning and experience for the purpose of developing a deep
understanding of what students know, understand and can do with their knowledge as a
result of their educational experience; the process culminates when assessment results
are used to improve subsequent learning. (Huba and Freed, 2000)

b. Basic is forming an essential foundation or starting point; fundamental.

c. Concept is an abstract idea; a general notion.

d. Context is the circumstances that form the setting for an event, statement, or idea,
and in terms of which it can be fully understood and assessed.

e. Evaluation is the act of setting a value on the assessment information.

f. Factor is a circumstance, fact, or influence that contributes to a result or outcome.

g. Indicator is a thing, especially a trend or fact that indicates the state or level of
something.

h. Input is what is put in, taken in, or operated on by any process or system.

i. Learning is the act of acquiring new, or modifying and reinforcing, existing knowledge,
behaviors, skills, values, or preferences and may involve synthesizing different types of
information.

j. Measurement is an orderly assigning of numerical value to a certain characteristic.

k. Objective is a thing aimed at or sought; a goal.

l. Outcome is the result or the way a thing turns out; a consequence.

m. Output is the amount of something produced by a person, machine, or industry.

n. Process is a series of actions or steps taken in order to achieve a particular end.

o. Program is a planned series of future events, items, or performances.

p. Role is the function assumed or part played by a person or thing in a particular


situation.

q. Subjective is based on or influenced by personal feelings, tastes, or opinions.

r. Variable is an element, feature, or factor that is liable to vary or change.
