There are many women who marry a man who is a image of their father.

But more often

than not, many fathers have gone AWOL (absent without leave) in today's society. The
fact is that an earthly father is a direct representation of our heavenly father. Therefore
many perceptions or hopes are formed about God are solely based on that relationship
between a father and his son or daughter. If it was a good one than it's a positive re-
enforcement of a good God, and contrarily if he was a bad one, then a bad image of God
comes to mind more often than not. Many youngsters who lack a father often look to
other men for role models.
The Lord's Prayer (a model prayer of which one can follow in principle when praying to
God) calls God our father (He is; as indeed His power created all things). Jesus said,
"After this manner therefore pray ye: Our Father which art in heaven, Hallowed be thy
name. Thy kingdom come. Thy will be done in earth, as it is in heaven. Give us this day
our daily bread. And forgive us our debts, as we forgive our debtors. And lead us not into
temptation, but deliver us from evil: For thine is the kingdom, and the power, and the
glory, for ever. Amen." (Matthew 6:9-13) God is a "father to the fatherless and a judge of
the widows, God is in his holy habitation." (Psalm 68:5) Pure religion and undefiled
before God and the Father is this, To visit the fatherless and widows in their affliction,
and to keep himself unspotted (or unspoiled with the world) from the world. (James 1:26)
The fact is that the statistics show that fatherhood is on a huge decline and that the kids of
this country are suffering because of it. And no matter the cause of it (as some say it
started with former President Johnson's support of fatherless families in the mid sixties
with his socialistic programs) it's greatly affecting American in many unforeseeable
ways. Remember that if children have no father they will seek someone or something to
fill that void.
The children from fatherless homes are:
1.) 4.6 times more likely to commit suicide.
2.) 6.6 times more likely to become teenage mothers (if they are girls).
3.) 24.3 times more likely to run away.
4.) 15.3 times more likely to have behavioral problems.
5.) 6.3 times more likely to be in a state operated institution.
6.) 10.8 times more likely to commit rape.
7.) 15.3 times more likely to end up in prison while a teenager.
These are some sobering facts indeed. Let's turn back unto God while there is still time.
