AN adult has been hospitalised in Western Australia after being diagnosed with the

potentially deadly meningococcal disease.

The patient was infected with serogroup W, which is behind a recent increase in the
number of cases in the state.

There have been 14 cases reported so far this year, including nine serogroup W,
compared to a total of 46 cases in 2017.
