International Membership

Individuals who have completed, or are completing, formal


training in food, nutrition or dietetics outside the United States
qualify for membership with the Academy. The Academy’s
International category extends membership worldwide, providing
networking for food, nutrition and dietetics experts in any area of
practice, wherever they live.

If you can answer YES to any of Verification documents you will


the questions below, you qualify need to submit:
for Academy membership in the
International category:

• Have you completed formal training The Academy’s International Membership


outside of the United States and US Verification Form signed by your country’s
territories in food, nutrition or dietetics? professional dietetics association and/or
national regulatory body.
• Are you a student enrolled in a food, The Academy’s International Membership
nutrition or dietetics education program Verification Form signed by your
outside the United States which is not a educational program.
US regionally accredited institution and
is not accredited by the Accreditation The International Student classification
Council for Education in Nutrition and carries a six-year limit and is available for
Dietetics (ACEND)? international students who state their
intent to complete formal training in food,
nutrition or dietetics outside the United
States and US Territories.

Privileges of International Membership


International members may be members of committees and attend meetings. International
members shall be entitled to vote and are eligible to hold elected office at the affiliate level.

Position and Practice Papers


Familiarize yourself with the Academy’s stance on issues that affect the nutritional status
of the public. Position and practice papers are based on sound scientific data and are
published in the Journal of the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics, Nutrition in the News and
on the Academy’s website.
Evidence Analysis Library® (EAL®)
Developed to provide members with research, evidence-based nutrition practice
guidelines, toolkits and educator modules, the EAL® is a web-based tool free for
Academy members.
Distance Learning
The Center for Lifelong Learning offers a number of online certificate of training programs,
live and recorded webinars, as well as virtual FNCE®, which are available in group and self-
study options. Over 175 programs are available for free or at a reduced rate for members. 
Dietetic Practice Groups (DPGs)
Join one or more of the Academy’s professional interest groups and enhance your
specialized knowledge, share practice tips and establish relationships with colleagues
from all over the world.
American Overseas Dietetic Association (AODA)
As the international affiliate of the Academy, share knowledge and expertise with other
food and nutrition experts from around the world. Affiliate membership is included with
your Academy membership.
Member Interest Groups (MIGs)
Connect with other food and nutrition experts with common interests, issues or
backgrounds. MIGs focus on areas other than practice or geographic location, and reflect
characteristics of the Academy’s membership and the public it serves.
