Acquisition Section
Selects, purchases, accessions and processes payments of all library materials.

Cataloging Section
Catalogs and classifies newly acquired books and other library materials.

Circulation Section
Handles the loans and return of books. A user may borrow 2 books for 1 week and still borrow 2
books at a time for room use.

Books frequently used and assigned by faculty members for added readings to students are shelved
in the Reserve Collection at Circulation, Filipiniana, Architecture, Law and Graduate Library. Please
ask the circulation librarian for assistance. Fiction books/bestsellers (pocketbooks in English) are
available for loan.

Overnight Reserve books may be taken out from 2:00 p.m. and should be returned first hour the
following morning.

Print journals, magazines, microfilm of back issues of newspapers, newsletters are found in this Online Public Access Catalog (OPAC)
section. These materials are for room-use only. Print materials are supplemented by electronic Services
resources suchas EBSCO,CIPPA and the Philippine e-lib. Electronic Resources
Reference Section Facilities
Provides programs and activities that help improve the “e-research skill” of library patrons.

Services:
1. Reference Desk

A public service desk manned by Reference Librarians and offer research assistance and guidance
to library users.

Specifically, we:
~ Answer questions about the services of the library.
~ Help develop research strategies for the effective completion research projects and studies.
~ Issue referral letters for research to outside libraries, agencies and institutions.
~ Provide instruction on the effective use of information resources.

Note: The Reference Desk is open from 10:00 am to 7:00 pm, Mondays to Fridays and 8:00 am to
6:00 pm on Saturdays.

2. Information Literacy Program


These are scheduled tutorial sessions on all the research resources and services of the library.
Specifically it aims to teach participants how to access, evaluate and use data effectively from all
forms of information sources.
Programs are:
a) Library Orientation. Covers general policies and services of the library
b) Information Resources Training. Encompasses specific research oriented topics such as the useof
library electronic resources.
3. Current Awareness Service
Service intended to update the academic community on the latest acquisitions and services of the
library via e-​mail (for academic heads), bulletin boards and through the library website.
Collections:
Print (Encyclopedias, Handbooks, Atlases, Dictionaries, Yearbooks, Manuals, Guidebooks, etc.) and
Electronic materials needed to find specific and general information are housed in this section.

Filipiniana Section
This section is devoted to materials about the Philippines, covering various subject areas written by
Filipino or foreign authors, published here and abroad. Selected materials can be borrowed for
home-​use.

Archives and Rare Books Collection


Institutional documents with historical value are available in this section. Examples of these materials
are: FEU yearbooks, graduation programs, directory of alumni and other publications of the
University. Also available is a special collection on World War II materials in various types and formats
such as printed books, e-​books, pamphlets, periodicals and audiovisual.

Graduate Library
Theses and dissertations done by FEU students are available in this section.

Electronic Library
Equipped with 197 computer terminals with internet connections. It has a special area for the use of
faculty members.
Policies and Procedures:
1 First-​come, first-​served is followed.
2 Users are required to log-​in at the counter upon presentation of I.D.
3 Proper attire (official university uniform or complete P.E. uniform).
4 Report any mark or damage on the assigned workstation.
5 User must not alter, change, delete, any of the settings, or programs in the computer.
6 User must log-out the computer before leaving the work station.
7 Every user is entitled to 20 hours free per semester, exceeding hours will be charged at Php15.00
per hour.

Media Services Section


This section documents activities in the FEU campus such as seminars, lectures, students and
faculty activities, and other campus events. All services rendered by the center should be covered by
a request form approved by the University Librarian. It also has facilities for individual viewing by
faculty and students.
