(ii) He discovered the trace anomaly of the energy-momentum tensor in a general theory of
interacting fermions and non-Abelian gauge bosons.
(iii) He derived the Standard Model Lagrangian purely from the requirement of asymptotic
softness of various Born amplitudes. This derivation also displayed the necessity of the
Higgs particle in the Standard Model in order to preserve perturbative unitarity.
(v) He found finite field-dependent BRS transformations which relate Green's functions in
Lorentz and axial gauges. This result was very important since it provided the correct
procedure to handle some spurious singularities that arise in axial gauges. Until then
physicists had simply used some ad-hac prescriptions for this purpose. All of these were
found to be invalid by the rigourous treatment provided by Prof. Joglekar.
