PRESS The Finnish Association for the Club of Rome, FICOR, is a
YHTEYSTIEDOT National chapter of Finland for the Club of Rome.
ENGLISH The Club of Rome is a global think tank and centre of
innovation and initiative.
As a non-profit, non governmental organisation (NGO), it
brings together scientists, economists, businessmen,
international high civil servants, heads of state and former
heads of state from all five continents who are convinced
that the future of humankind is not determined once and for
all and that each human being can contribute to the
improvement of our societies.
The Club of Rome is a group of scientists, economists,
businessmen, international high civil servants, heads of
State and former heads of State who pool their different
experiences from a wide range of backgrounds to come to a
deeper understanding of the world problematique.

It is composed of active members, associate members,

honorary members and institutional members.
The Finnish members:
n Professor Pentti Malaska (member since 1972 and
honorary member since 2004)
n President Mauno Koivisto (honorary member since
1984)
n Ambassador Benjamin Bassin (since 1992)
n Professor Esko Kalimo (since 1999)
n Professor Markku Wilenius (since 2002)
n Mr. Tapio Kanninen (since 2004)
n Mrs. Sirkka Heinonen (since 2005).

News

FICOR held its annual meeting

FICOR had its annual meeting on March 19. 2007 in Helsinki.
Main agenda included the election of new board of directors
for the association and also discussion about the future
actions of FICOR.

The board of directors for 2006 was elected to continue, with

one change. Ms. Salla Koivusalo was replaced with mr.
Markku Wilenius. Professor Wilenius is also a member of
Executive committee of CoR.

Publications in English

In our section > Julkaisut (Publications) there can be

found also english material.

Recent addition is "Information

Technology, Competitiveness and the
Environment, Proceedings (2006)". This
is a proceedings for a seminar, which was
held in Helsinki on November 2006. Uou
can also find it pdf-format on the pages of
The European Support Centre of the Club of
Rome in Vienna.
Also you can find a publicaton "Dossiers" 1965-1984
(Helsinki 2005), a collection of articles explaining the
founding and first years of the Club of Rome. Publication has
been compiled and edited by mr. Pentti Malaska and mr.
Matti Vapaavuori.

Another puclication in english is:

On the Way to Sustainable Development. An approach
to defining a national model of global responsibility. The
Finnish Society for Futures Studies and the Finnish
Association for the Club of Rome. Second revised edition
1997 (First published in 1996).
Based on the Book by the Finnish Association For the Club of
Rome: Kansainvälinen vastuumme, Suomen malli (1995).

2004 Annual Conference

On 11 & 12 October, 2004 the Club of Rome held its 2004

Annual Conference in Helsinki, Finland in co-operation with
the Finnish Association for the Club of Rome and Finland
Futures Research Centre.
