Working with a Tutor: Guidelines for working with tutors are available upon
request. Tutors are NOT permitted to work on the actual material that the student
will be submitting to the teacher for assessment.
Although your Grade 8 student is new to high school, as much as possible
he/she needs to be responsible for his/her own learning, organization, and
submission of assignments; ultimately, the responsibility for how your
child does in school needs to belong to the child. That said, please help by
providing daily structured homework/review time away from distractions,
and feel free to proof read work (but don’t re-write it). Encourage your
child to have all work completed and packed back into his/her school bag
before going to bed early enough to get those important 9.25 hours of
sleep. I am looking forward to a great year with your child.
Unexcused absences: parents and students
need to familiarize themselves with policies and
procedures at Lord Byng, particularly those
regarding missed work. Please read and understand
these as they will be followed; they can be found in
your child’s student agenda and on the school
website.
No work will be provided for a student going on a
vacation, family trip, etc; it will be up to the student
to make up any allowable work upon return; I will
not be able to reteach your child what he/she has
missed while away from class due to an unexcused
absence.
