HOW TO REACH PUNE

Now that you are already planning to visit Pune, here is how you can reach the city easily –

Living in Maharashtra – for people in Maharashtra, your travel options are:

1. Trains – multiple trains, local as well as air conditioned run on this route. So if you are going
to Pune, just book your seat 10 days in advance and you are set.
2. Volvo – for people in Mumbai or Ahmednagar, or any such other place one really good
option is to take an overnight Volvo. The Volvo usually takes about 6 to 8 hours depending
on the distance and you reach Pune comfortably.
3. Flights – if you really want to save that travel time or would like to avoid the crowd and
delays, just take a flight and you will reach Pune in just about an hour! The Pune
International airport is quite close to the city and easily accessible.
4. Cabs or drive to Pune – another viable option for people staying close to the city is to just
drive down or book an outstation cab from either Uber or Ola.

Living outside Maharashtra – if you are not living in the state, then your travel options are:

1. Trains – Pune has trains coming in and going out to almost every major city and even some
towns. I would suggest you go the official website of Indian railways and see the time table
of the trains. Then you can directly book the tickets from the website of IRCTC. Make sure
you make bookings at least 1 month in advance.
2. Flights – Pune is accessible easily by flights from all the major cities like Delhi, Bangalore,
Chennai, Jaipur, Jodhpur and others. For other cities, there are connecting flights via Delhi. If
you book the tickets about 1 month in advance, it would cost you around INR 3500 per
person or even less if there is an offer going on.

BEST TIME TO VISIT PUNE

If you are looking to venture out and enjoy your time in Pune, the best time to visit is during the
winter months. The temperatures are moderate and you do not require anything other than a light
sweatshirt during the night. In the day, normal t-shirts are sufficient. Also, the city is abuzz with the
Christmas and New Year cheer during December and January, so you should plan a vacation around
that time.

If you are looking for places to visit in Pune at night for parties, then the best time to visit would be
during the months of June to September. The city experiences moderate rainfall which keeps the
heat away and makes for a wonderful weather to roam around in.
The months of March to May are the hottest in Pune and often the temperatures go as high as 43
degree Celsius. So you must plan your travel accordingly.

HOW TO COMMUTE WITHIN PUNE

To commute and reach the places to visit in Pune at night safely, I would suggest you book yourself
an Uber or Ola. It is easy for you to track your ride, share your route details and live location with a
family member or friend. The cabs are available throughout the day and reach your location within a
couple of minutes.

If you are travelling during the day, you can take the local buses. There are air conditioned as well as
normal buses and they run in the city, covering all major locations at very minimal rates.

Another option is to take the auto or the rickshaws. For places that very close and you do not feel
like walking, take an auto or wave for a rickshaw.

PLACES TO VISIT IN PUNE AT NIGHT

Pune as a city has many colleges and thus, it has a lot of places where you can chill and hangout with
your friends. If you are a party person and are looking for places to visit in Pune at night, here is a
small list for you. Make sure you explore these places and enjoy your time in Pune –

1. Mi a mi – Mi a Mi is one place where you can quite literally dance the night away. The party
begins around 9pm and goes on till the wee hours. We have often returned home at 4am
from parties at this pub. The place looks like a garage and has a rustic touch to it. However,
this place has the largest dance floor in town and accommodates a lot of people. At
midnight, it looks like an underground concert is going on. Apart from the ambience, this
place has the best of DJs, food and drinks. I would totally recommend this pub to all the
party animals. If no other place, this a must visit and so it tops my list!
2. High Spirits – if you are looking for pocket friendly places where you can party the night
away, then this is where you should go! The place is open till late night and has a good
selection of food and drinks. Mostly the crowd that you will see here will be college people
or those who have just started working and so, it is very lively.
3. Kiva Bar – so the bar has a very casual environment and is well suited for people of all age
groups. The décor is good and the overall experience here is a lot of fun. The food and drinks
are reasonable, so you can enjoy without keeping a check on the budget.
4. Scream – The Club – a club in the Le Meriden offers a lot more than just good music. The
USP of this place is that it is a couple’s only club. No stag entries or children are allowed by
the management. I would suggest you reach early as once the place fills up, they do not give
entry. It is a very classy place with good food and drinks. The drinks are a little expensive but
the entire experience here is very good.
5. Alto Vino – it is on the first floor of the JW Marriott hotel and is indeed a very fancy place.
The setting is very classy and the servers make sure you have a good time. It is open till late
night and the music playlist is lovely! If you visit this place do try their Chicken Roast Pizza,
Spinach Garlic Pizza and the Tiramisu. However, keep in mind that the prices are a little high
in here.
6. Paasha – an open air disco with delicious food and fancy drinks is how I would describe this
place. From the top you can see the entire Pune skyline, which by the way is beautiful and
looks even better on clear nights. If you need a break, this is the best place to chill. For
vegetarians the Lotus Stem snack is highly recommended. If you enjoy mutton, try the lamb
chops. For drinks, if you are interested in getting a cocktail, try the Bay by the Breeze.
7. Swig – if you are someone who enjoys a vibrant place with loud music, good lighting,
delicious food and great drinks with a touch of magic then Swig is a must go. This place was
once a club and is now an open ground for all the musicians, artists and the DJs. No matter
what day it is, you will be enthralled by the music they play!
8. Fish Bowl – this is a fine dining, lounge by Hyatt. I really liked the atmosphere of this place; it
is so lively and fun. The seating is comfortable and cozy which makes it very chic and
fashionable. The food is served hot and delicious and the liquor menu is extensive but a little
on the expensive side. There is also an open deck for people who want to enjoy the cool
breeze.
9. Blue Diamond – so this is not a place that offers any party time, but this is one of the best
places in town that serves food all round the clock. It is a restaurant at the Vivanta by Taj in
Pune where you can go and satisfy your taste buds at any time. I would recommend their
Club Sandwich, Biryani and the Chilli Cheese Toasts.
10. The Ship – the entire place is designed exactly like the big, old ships that we have seen only
in movies. So if you are looking for a place that offers good food, music with the right
ambience to party, then you must visit this place. The place is open for the entire night,
serving food on a budget; all of the youngsters are here on the weekends, especially.
11. Oakwood Lounge – so the place is a little small so it gets stuffy as the night gets busy. The
music is fine and the food is not really great but it is value for money. Their drinks menu is
good, so I would recommend this place for people who are looking for fun but are on a
budget.
12. Hard Rock Café – the Hard Rock Café chain is world famous. The entire concept is of a rock
concert and the experience is unique. So they usually have live music till about 10 pm and
after that, the DJ plays till around 1:30am. The music here has the touch of the rock genre,
but they do play Bollywood and Punjabi music along with the English tunes. The Hard Rock
Café has outlets in all the major cities in India and are a great place to party at.
13. Mix @ 36 – the fact that this is a lounge in a luxury hotel ensures that the crowd is decent.
This place is quite high up and gives a very stunning view of the entire city and the Mula-
Mutha River. The place is well lit up with the LED lights and serves great food. I went back
for their ambience and the non-stop music till the wee hours of the night.
14. Soho Bar – apart from the great music and the ambience, what I really like here are the
innovative cocktails. They honestly have a very big menu for cocktails and each one of them
has been well thought of and taste good. For people who enjoy EDM, you must visit this
place.
15. Euriska – great music and a huge, huge menu that serves super yummy Mediterranean and
European dishes. The entire place has been designed and decorated keeping in mind the
Greek Island, Santorini. It looks as if you have come to a different place with the music, food
and how they function. If you get confused while ordering, these are the things you must try
– Crème Brulee, Thin Crust Pizzas, Tiramisu, Baklava, Prawn Burger and their best drink is the
Long Island Ice tea.
16. Area 51 – at any point of time, this is the most crowded places in town. The pub can have
around 1,500 people at a time and that is why, it is so popular. It almost feels like a big
concert when you visit this place. The music is always booming, great lighting for the mood
and the overall ambience is a big hit. The food also is quite good and worth the money you
pay for it.
17. 10 Downing Street – so this is one of the oldest party places in town and I must say, quite
popular. The dancing area is small and still a lot of people come here on the weekends. I
liked their menu which is quite extensive and offers much more than just finger foods.
18. 1000 Oaks – located in the Pune Camp area, this place serves great Barman’s beer and finger
licking Indian food. The service here is very prompt, I personally love the tunes by the DJ and
they have these electronic dart board games which add a fun factor to this pub.
