You will need one to download apps ftom the App Store, buy songs from iTunes and purchase books from iBooks. 15 Create an Apple ID Ifyou have yet to create an Apple ID it's incredibly simple todo so, and you can do it from the comfort of your iPhone. Tap the Create a Free Apple ID button (Fig 7) and youll have to enter your birthday (which will be used in case you forget your password), your name, and the email address that will eventually become your Apple ID. 16 Sign In with an Apple ID Due to the exceptional success of Apple programs lke Tunes, you may already have an Apple ID without so much as touching an iPhone, Mac, iPhone, or od. ifyou have one, tap Sign in with an Apple ID and enter your ID and password. you know you own one but can't remember the details, tap Forgot Apple ID or Password?’ and youll be able to retrieve it 17 Read the Terms & Conditions AYter signing in with ether your brand new or existing Apple ID, you wil be presented with a screen of Terms and Conditions that relate to all aspects of your Phone and the services that you willbe using, such as Cloud, Game Center and so on. Ifyou lose your Phone then you can access the service from an iPhone, Pod touch or computer by visiting www.icloud com. 21 Diagnostics and Usage The next screen deals wth diagnostics and usage data. Basically, Apple likes to keep track of how its products are performing, Sothis screen allows you to send diagnostic data straight to Apple. Ifyou wish 10 keep your information private, opt for ‘Don't Send! You can change your answer after activation from the Settings app, in the ‘About’ tab, 22 Your last chance to restart The diagnostics screen offers you one last chance to restart the activation process ifyou'te not happy with the choices youve rade. To restart the process, tap the Home button (the circular button at the bottom of the iPhone) once, and a menu should pop up. You will then find the option to restart the activation, where you can make the choices you want. 23 Set up is complete! Congyatulations! You have now worked your way through the entire set-up process. A screen will confi that the process complete (Fig 11), so what are you waiting for Tap on the ‘Start Using iPhone’ button to start using your Phone! Master Digital Touch This is one of the most overlooked parts of the Messages app but it allows you to express yourselfin new and imaginative ways. You can turn on the ‘Send Read Receipts’ option to provide the sender with an indication that you have read their message. To do this, go to the Settings app and head to the Messages section. The title of the document will form the title of the email so most of the work is already done for you.
