The word ‘technology’ means industrial science and is usually associated with major activities

such as manufacturing, transportation and communication. Technology has been, in fact,

closely associated with the evolution of man starting tools, clothing, fire, shelter and various
other basic survival items. The issue of technology being a part of modern life has become
controversial nowadays. Some feel that the contribution of technology has made a positive
impact in modern life and has improved the quality of life. I believe that the contribution of
technology has made its own impact depending on how well you manage those inventions.

The use of the term technology has changed significantly over the last 200 years. Before the
20th century, the term was uncommon in English and usually referred to the description or study
of the useful arts. The term was often connected to technical education, as in the
Massachusetts Institute of Technology chartered in 1861. Technology rose to prominence in
20th century in connection with the second industrial revolution. The meanings of technology
changed in the early 20th when American Social Scientists, beginning with Torstein Veblen,
translated ideas from the German Concept of Technik into technology. It is can also be used to
refer to a collection of techniques. In this context, it is the current state of humanity’s
knowledge of how to combine resource to produce desired products, to solve problems, fulfill
needs or satisfy wants. It includes technical methods, skills, processes, tools and raw materials.
When combine with another term such as ‘medical technology’ or ‘space technology’, it refers to
the state of the respective field’s knowledge and tools. Additionally, technology is the
application of math, science and the arts for the benefits of life as it is known. A modern
example is the rise of communication technology, which has lessened barriers to human
interaction and as a result, has helped spawn new subcultures which is the rise of cyber culture
has, at is basis, the development of internet and the computer. Not all technology enhances
culture in a creative way. Technology can also help facilitate political oppression and war via the
latest tools such as guns. As a cultural activity, technology predates both science and
engineering, each of which formalizes some aspects of technological endeavor.

In the recent years, the advancement of technology has certainly been of the hottest issue in
the present world. It certainly has managed to enlighten the society for the better life. Thus, it
was found to bring a lot of benefits to the society. As we can see, our life is influenced by
many types of gadgets. For example, each of us even the primary students have their own
hand phone. Hand phone nowadays consist of many functions including email, internet, MMS
and 3G rather than just for calling and SMS. Long time ago, people used letter to communicate
with one another in a long distance. From this, we can see how well our technology being
developed and make our life better and simple. Moreover, technology is developing many new
ideas until invented something that used to be impossible during our last generation. In certain
country, they are using robots to do their works. Compare to the old generation, they have to
s[end a lot of time to finish their works on their own. Besides, the most important thing about
developing technologies is, it increases the economical rate and the standard of the way people
live. People nowadays are easily amazed with certain country only because their technology. If
they are send to the rural area, it was like going back to the pre-historical place. Furthermore, if
the country or state got the latest technologies, of cause people will interested to come over
thus the economy will grow faster. In the other words, I like to state here that technology
improves the quality of life, develop our minds, increase the economical rate and also shows
the new standards the way people live.

Actually, technology shows its impact depending on how well people cope with those
inventions. First, it has a very positive impact on the education field. It certainly has managed
to change the way people get education nowadays and there are millions of students who are
actually connected to a much wider world beyond their classroom. They learn through the
interactive multimedia system, projection systems, and websites and also email which also one
of the most common tools of learning in the university. In this era, the use of technology and
all the learning techniques certainly can be very much inevitable in the near future because of
its potential. There are number of students who really get benefits from the technology by
participating in various learning process such that most of the students may also receive an
immediate reinforcement related to their present performance.

Second, technology also shows the impact in the communication field. People will get easily
interacted with one another even in a long distance. Today it is possible for people to try and
communicate with people overseas by making use of emails, chat rooms and also can get live
consultation through different software. In the negative way, some of us will take for granted
with these phenomena. They tend to use the technology in the wrong way. For example, some
students do not do the research perfectly but just copy and paste from the internet to finish
their assignments. More Worst, some people watch pornographic video from the internet and
even upload it without shame.
Other than that, technology also gives impact in the manufacturing field. I will more focus in
the food packaging. Food packaging is a very common in the modern marketplace. Aside from
the simple advantages of convenience and storage, food packaging has revolutionized the
market through a number of additional technological and business advances. However, some
packed food creates a negative impact on health and environment, and are not always as
sustainable and beneficial as unpacked food. When refer to the food quality, packages provide
protection from physical and environmental damage during handling, transport and storage of
foods. Packaging such as glass, aluminum or plastic containers prolong the shelf life of their
contents. However, while some packaged foods take longer time to get bad, they still lose their
freshness, while the contents themselves survive, the full flavor may be not. When come into
health issue, the nutritionist said that the unpacked food may seem healthier in principle, as
they are less likely to contain preservatives. But then, the fresh foods especially meat, fish and
vegetables are actually face a greater risk of contamination handling, which may lead to serious
disease if not properly sanitized. The health aspect of packaged foods depends upon the
product. One notable advantage of packaged foods is the FDA which is required food label that
many products are required to have. The labels not only provide a list of all ingredients as well
