I. Background of the Study

Coffee is a common drink acquired from roasted and ground beanlike seeds of a tropical

shrubs (Kopi Luwak). It is consumed daily as a side-drink during break times. It can be served as

hot or cold water. Coffee contains antioxidants and nutrients and it is one of the major source of

antioxidants in modern diet. This high antioxidant content is believed to be responsible for many

of the health benefits like improving energy levels make you smarter. 3 in 1 coffees like Kopiko

Blanca and Nescafe are simple mixtures of instant coffees containing non- dairy creamer and

refined sugar.

The researchers chose to conduct this experiment to investigate the difference when these

instant 3 in 1 coffee brand are dissolved in cold water, therefore providing the readers what to

use when opting for a cold coffee mixtures.

II. Problem

Which coffee brand has greater amount of solutes after 20 stirs?

III. Hypothesis

1. Kopiko has lesser solutes in cold water after 20 stirs.

2. Nescafe has greater solutes in cold water after 20 stirs


IV. Materials and Procedure

Materials:

-Coffee (Nescafe and Kopiko)

-2 cups

-Cold water (50 ml in two cups)

-Cloth

Procedure:

1. Prepare 2 set ups containing 50 ml cold water in each cup.

2. Put 15 g of Nescafe and Kopiko on each cup.

3. Stir it 20 times clockwise.

4. Place the cloth in each cup to serve as a strainer and compare the amount of solutes on

each cup of coffee

5. Pour in the solution of coffee from each cup.


V. Conclusion

The Kopiko has greater amount of solutes

The Nescafe has lesser amount of solutes.
