Vacancy: Head of Communications

Introduction

The Malta Financial Services Authority is seeking to add to its senior team an experienced
individual to lead its Communications department. The role requires a proven track record in
managing communications for a medium to large-sized entities and a strategic mindset to
deal with all aspects of communications and the role of communications within the wider
organizational strategy. The chosen candidate will be responsible for putting forward a
comprehensive communications strategy that revolves around the MFSA’s mission, vision
and values.

Qualifications Required

 A University academic qualification in a relevant field at MQF level 6 or better duly


certified by the Malta Qualifications Recognition Information Centre (MQRIC)*.

 A post-graduate degree in these areas would be considered an asset.

Eligibility

 Proven work experience, with a required minimum of eight (8) years and preferably with
twelve (12) years at a senior level in a related area.

 Applicants must also demonstrate excellent verbal/written communication (in Maltese


and English) as well as the ability to work under pressure within strict deadlines.

 Excellent written and verbal communication skills using English. Proficiency in Maltese
will be considered a strong asset.

Duties

The person will be expected to:

 Lead the Communications Team in delivering concrete improvements in both internal


and external communications and supporting the wider communications strategy;
 Ensure a full functional social media platform and supporting social media activities;
 Oversee the delivery of new intranet and website based on latest technology; supporting
strategic development of the website, intranet in the areas of web usability and
information architecture.
 Finalise an ongoing organisational rebranding exercise
 Contribute to content building and management to be used on portals, online/printed
media channels
 Assisting the coordination of high-quality across-the-board, as well as timely delivery,
supporting public consultations and information of stakeholders as required.
 Oversee the production of printed publications including the MFSA Annual Report
presented to the House of Representatives
 Take the role of spokesperson for the organization and deal with all media
 Manage the relationship with external media consultants appointed by the organisation
from time to time
 Take responsibility for consumer education
 To oversee the running of the operations within the Communications Unit
 Liaise with other supervisory and regulatory local and International Organisations’ press
offices and communications officers as may be required.
 Supporting the management, monitoring and forecasting of the budget related to
communication activities (website, press, publications).

* It is the responsibility of applicants in possession of qualifications awarded by Universities and other


similar institutions outside Malta to produce a recognition statement on comparability of qualifications
issued by the Malta Qualifications Recognition Information Centre (MQRIC). Applicants should do so
