Return to Life Exhibit Intern

Location: Dallas, Texas (West End Historic District)

Job Title: Intern assigned to “Return to Life” Exhibition

Reports To: Archivist Assistant / Executive Director

$2000.00 Salary

Hours: 35 per week
Mon – Fri 9:30 am to 5:00 pm June-August 2007
General Description:
The Dallas Holocaust Museum is committed to keeping the memories of the Holocaust
alive and accessible for future generations. As such, the museum is beginning work on
the Return to Life Exhibit that will be a permanent gallery in the planned new museum.
This exhibit will house the collected records of the Survivors and Liberators from the
North Texas area. The database will be searchable to allow visitors to learn more about
these people and places. The intern will be instrumental in helping to shape and create
the database at its initial stages. Focusing on Survivors and Liberators who speak at the
museum, the intern will gather information from the museum’s archives as well as from
the Survivors themselves.

Responsibilities:
● Collecting records pertaining to the history of North Texas Survivor’s families and
their experience during the Holocaust
● Creating a template database utilizing the information gathered from the Survivors
● Assisting the Archivist Assistant in processing historical records pertaining to a
newly acquired collection
● Acting as a Survivor liaison as you work to gain information for the project
Requirements:
● Currently enrolled as an undergraduate college student who will be returning to
college as a full time sophomore, junior, or senior in the fall of 2007
● Proficient in all Microsoft Office Systems
● Interest and knowledge of modern European history a plus, with special attention
to the Holocaust
● Strong personal initiative, organizational ability, attention to detail, and creativity
● German Language Proficiency a Definite Plus!
