The instructions include information about the software protection system used and installation
options and instructions. You can choose between a Standalone or Network installation.
For new Network installations, see the License Manager System Administrator’s Guide for more
detailed information about the License Manager and the License Manager Administration program
“WlmAdmin.exe”.
This installation contains the License Manager program SentinelLM 7.2.0.23. If you are currently
running an earlier version of SentinelLM then it should be uninstalled prior to installing this
version. IMPORTANT! All commuter licenses should be checked in before uninstalling the old
version.
For Network installations you can create a text file, Level.txt, and put the Program Level in it. Save
this file to the License Manager sub-folder of the SAP2000 folder. This file will cause the program
to find the license faster. Note that this file will be included when a new license is sent.
If you experience problems with the license please refer to the appropriate “License Trouble
Shooting Guide...” located in the SAP2000 folder.
2. File Compatibility
SAP2000 Version 10 can open model files (*.SDB) from older versions of SAP2000, as well as
import older SAP2000 database files (*.S2K, *.$2K, *.XLS, and *.MDB.) Note that once you save
or run these models in Version 10, they will not be usable by older versions of the program, so you
may want to save them under a new name after opening or importing them in Version 10.
SAP2000 Version 10.0.0 is a new version, and is a direct upgrade from Version 9.1.9. New features
include the following.
• An advanced equation solver has added for extremely efficient runtimes and storage
utilization.
• An automatic shifting option has been added to the eigen-solver for efficient solution of
large systems with many closely-spaced eigenvalues.
• Layered shell properties are now available.
• Area loads can be applied to frame elements, such as for accurate transfer of floor loading
to beams.
• Wind loading for ASCE 7-02 can be automatically created in multiple directions.
• Pushover analysis in the Advanced level of the program has been enhanced by adding:
o FEMA 356 hinges
o Force-controlled hinges
o Caltrans column-section hinges
o Fiber hinges
o Hinge results graphical display
o ATC 55 and FEMA 440 pushover curve plots
• Interactive database editor now has undo capability after applying changes to model
• Fast OpenGL graphics can now be used for drawing and display
• For concrete shell design, analysis results can now display required rebar intensity and
maximum concrete stress
• ACI design code has been updated to 318-05
• New import/export options include:
o Support for ProSteel
o Support for Tekla and ArchiCAD through IFC
• Bridge Modeler has improved the template for steel composite bridges
• Bridge force and moment results can be displayed on a girder-by-girder basis.
• A new Soil-Structure Interaction add-on module is available. It includes:
o Multi-linear springs (e.g., P-y curves) that can be assigned per-unit-length on line
objects and per-unit-area on area objects.
o Models created in SAP2000 can be exported directly as “House” models for
program SASSI.
o SAP2000 can create animated deflected shapes (*.AVI files) for the time-history
results from program SASSI.
