The Report

The purpose of a report is (as the name suggests) to report on factual information (e.g. the
results of a political survey, the findings of a science experiment or annual statistics on road
deaths) and then form some conclusions or make some recommendations based on the facts
presented. The word count only includes the main paragraphs (headings do not count). Here
is a suggested paragraph outline for reports;

When writing a report, it is important to remember the following points:

• use formal language


• use a main title
• use a heading for each paragraph
• you CAN use bullet points to summarise results, findings or other factual information

Write facts and info to fulfil the task
Heading 2
Facts about the info asked in the task
Conclusion
Summarise in a general way the main points and draw a conclusion. If asked give your
opinion
