Grade Level 7th Month/Week 9/17 Week/Unit Annotating Articles With Scrible/Scrible Intro

Objective Student will learn to use Scrible to annotate nonfiction articles.

7LA.B.19: read and comprehend literary non-fiction in the grades 6–8 text complexity band proficiently, with
scaffolding as needed at the high end of the range, by the end of grade 7 (I)

1.1.8 Demonstrate mastery of technology tools for accessing information and pursuing inquiry.

Procedures

1. Opening: Review and discuss the process of annotating articles.

2. Using presentation, students will set their Scrible accounts.

3. Student will read their documents first, for understanding.

4. Students will use the Scrible database to annotate articles, by finding the main idea, supporting details,
important facts, and difficult words to highlight. They will create a paraphrased note for each
highlighted fact and definitions for highlighted words, using the notepad tool.

5. Closing:

1, 2, 3, Summary: Students come up with 3 questions about today’s lesson. Ask a partner your 3
questions.

Assessments Students will show that they are able to analyze informational text, by using appropriate
annotation techniques. Student will use technology to evaluate their text and show understanding of
information.
