A lot of people might think that the reason why Asia is so popular might be because of it is a
strategic place for trade because of its vast landmass and territory. Another would be the
various cultures and religion present in the different countries in Asian, but the truth is, it is a
combination of its sheer size, the different people that are found in the various countries, the
industries that can be found, the natural resources that are present and the climate, vegetation
and wildlife all make up what Asia is all about.

First of all let’s talk about the physical features of the landmass and the waters that surround
Asia. Asia is home to the world’s highest point on earth which is Mount Everest and the lowest
point on earth which is the Dead sea, the Plateau of Tibet is known as the “rooftop of the
world” because it is the largest plateau in the world. The Baikal lake is the deepest lake in the
world while the rivers Ganga and Brahmaputra form the largest delta in the world. Because of
these physical features Asia experiences different climates ranging from the scorching hot
deserts in West Asia to the humid and wet countries in Southeast Asia.

Second are the various people that are found in the various countries in Asia, the people in Asia
can be divided into three groups: the Mongoloids, the Caucasoid and the Australoid.
Mongoloids compromise the largest racial group which covers the greater part of Asia, the
Caucasoids on the other hand dominate in Central and South-west Asia. A lot of religion were
also founded in Asia, these are: Judaism, Christianity, Islam, Zoroastrianism, Hinduism,
Buddhism, Jainism, Sikhism, Taoism, Confucianism and Shintoism. Because of the different
religions that are founded there, Asia is the home to many religions and beliefs and is the
birthplace of different religions like; Shintoism was founded in Japan while Taoism and
Confucianism was founded in China.

The most common type of natural resource that can be found in Asia is agriculture. The chief
food crop of Asia is rice and wheat which are grown in almost all countries while cotton is
grown in China, India, Pakistan, Turkey and Syria. Another abundant natural resource would be
fish and seafood, as Asia is well surrounded by bodies of water, different kinds of fish are
caught and are either imported or exported around the world. Asia is also has abundant
amounts of iron-ore which is use in making machines for modern industries like steel work and
factories, oil on the other hand is very abundant in Southwest Asia. Coal is another natural
resource that is abundant in Asia as well as tin which is used in making cans.

Because of the vast natural resources that are found in Asia, most of its countries are heavily
industrialized, like for example Japan which is known for its technology and iron and steel
industry. China on the other hand is a growing industrialized country with its large number of
iron and steel industry and ship building.

All of these elements make up Asia as a whole without one of them Asia would not be where it
is today, the home of some of the world’s leading and innovative countries which are highly
changing the world today through technological and electronical advancements.
