Before
Operation
1.1 Precautions
This document is applicable to installing, uninstalling and upgrading mediations through
web by using the OSS self-maintenance unit (OSMU).
In this document, all the commands starting with the prompt $ are executed by user
ossuser on the SSH client. Users do not need to enter the prompt $.
In this document, all operations are executed by the root user in default. That is, all
commands started with '#' are executed by the root user;'#' is not need to input.
This guide, the /opt/oss/server is the directory of M2000 server installed. If the common
version is installed under other directories, please change /opt/oss/server in the
installation guide to the corresponding directory.
Before operation, please read 5FAQ to learn some Basic technique operations.
The installation owner should make preparations in the installation preparation phase by
referring to Appendix Preparation Record Table, and should fill in the Preparation
Record Table. Record related activities according to Appendix B Operation Record
Table during the installation and generate the installation report accordingly.

Operation Guide for Mediation (Web) FAQFAQ
Answer
No. To reinstall the mediation version, uninstall the previously installed version first.
Answer
There is not a specific program for uninstalling a patch; that is, a patch is uninstalled with the
uninstallation of the basic version. Uninstalling the mediation of a version has no impact on
other mediation versions and historical alarm statistical data.
Answer
Step 1 In the Address box, enter http://IP address of the M2000 server:8090 or https://External IP
address of the M2000 server:31123.

iManager M2000
Operation Guide for Mediation (Web) FAQFAQ
Answer
For the M2000 of the versions earlier than V200R008C03, you must stop the M2000 services
before installing the mediation. For details about how to stop the M2000 services, see FAQ
5.2.2How Do I Stop the M2000 Services?
The M2000 of V200R008C03 or later versions supports the dynamic mediation installation.
During the installation of mediations, the M2000 services do not need to be interrupted.
5.3.2 How to Deal With the Prompt, Indicating that You Have
Installed this Version During the Installation?
Question
Why is the prompt such as "...has been installed! Please uninstall it at first." displayed during
the mediation installation.
Answer
If a mediation that you want to install has been installed or its version number is the same as
the value of NeVersion in the file <mediation version number>/etc/NeVersion.def, do not
install it again. If you must install, you need to uninstall the installed version first.
Answer
During the mediation installation, upgrade, or uninstallation, nobody else is allowed to install,
upgrade, or uninstall other mediation. You can perform these operations until the user exits.
5.3.4 How to Deal With the Prompt, Indicating that You Need
To Expand The Result Table In pmdb database?
Question
How to deal with the prompt
we need to expand the result table in pmdb database for some special counters, it will take
10mins~30mins.
We strongly suggest that don't do any operation that related to performance measurement
before the expanding operation finished.
Answer
The M2000 server automatically expands the database for the counters. No manual operation
is required. When the M2000 server is expanding the database, you are not allowed to set
performance measurement and query performance results for the related NE. For details, see
section 4.3.4 "Why Do I Fail to Set Performance Measurement or Query Measurement
Results When the Database Is Being Expanded for Special Counters?" Generally, expanding
the database takes 10 to 30 minutes, depending on the result table size.

iManager M2000
Operation Guide for Mediation (Web) FAQFAQ
Answer
Result tables in the database are used when you set performance measurement or query
measurement results during database expansion. However, the width of the columns
containing special counters in result tables changes. Therefore, operations such as setting
performance measurement and querying measurement results will fail during database
expansion. In addition, you cannot set performance measurement or query measurement
results for NEs of the same type corresponding to the mediation package because NEs of the
same type share result tables.
Answer
Perform the following steps to restore the M2000 to the normal mode:
Step 1 Log in to the M2000 server as user ossuser through SSH.
Step 2 Set environment variables.
$ . /opt/oss/server/svc_profile.sh
The command starts with ".", and a space exists between "." and "/".
Step 3 Run the following command to restore the M2000 to the normal mode:
$ svc_limitsystem off
Step 4 Restart the client.
Answer
All the mediation installation packages for M2000 versions earlier than V200R011 do not
have a signature. Check whether the mediation installation package is for an M2000 version
earlier than V200R011. If the package is for an M2000 version earlier than V200R011, ignore
the message, and proceed with the installation. If the mediation is for M2000 V200R011, the
mediation installation package must have a signature. Check whether the package is obtained
from a legal source.
Answer
If the information similar to the preceding is displayed, the mediation installation package has
been modified. Check whether the package is safe and legal.

Answer
If the NE version stored on the M2000 client is inconsistent with that stored on the M2000
server, you can manually download the NE mediation files to the M2000 client. This ensures
the NE version consistency on the M2000 client and server. The mediation files consist of
files such as online help files and the macro files of NEs. The macro file is a set containing all
commands defined by NEs. Through the macro file, you can know which commands are
supported in the NE version and what the parameters are.
Step 1 Restart the client software.
Step 2 Choose menu Help/Download NE Files.
Step 3 If a new NE version file exists, the Download NE Files dialog box is displayed and querying
whether download the new NE version help.
If no new version file exists, the progress query dialog box is closed directly.
Step 4 Select download the NE Type in the Download NE Files dialog box.
Step 5 Click Yes, The download progress is shown in the Download Progress dialog box.
Step 6 When the progress bar reaches 100%, click OK to finish the download.

Answer
This problem may be resulted from an error occurred during database expansion. If this
problem occurs, check the database expansion status and contact Huawei technical support
personnel for assistance. You can check the database expansion status using either of the
following methods:
Perform the following steps to check whether the database expansion process is
terminated.
Step 1 Log in to the M2000 server as user ossuser.
Step 2 Run the following command to set environment variables:
$ . /opt/oss/server/svc_profile.sh
The preceding command starts with a dot (.) and a space is required between the dot (.) and a slash (/).
The special counter function is used to expand the fields containing special counters in result tables after
the mediation package is installed. If the reported counter values of some NEs exceed the specified
range from – 999,999,999.999 to 999,999,999.999 in the M2000 database, this function is used to
ensure that the performance results are stored correctly. If this function is unavailable, the reported
counter values out of the specified range are displayed as – 999,999,999.999 or 999,999,999.999 on the
M2000.
Enabling the special counter function takes 10 to 30 minutes, depending on the existing data amount.
Therefore, to reduce time, you are advised to enable the special counter function after the mediation
package of a certain NE type is installed.
