LEVEL 3 NAS/EN TRAINING REQUIREMENTS

SELF STUDY REQUIRED PRIOR TO TRAINING COURSES Especially study guides & Q&A books

BASIC EXAM – Can be Exempt if holds PCN/ASNT level 3 and stated in written practice

In accordance with NAS410 rev 4 and EN4179 2017


It is now mandatory to sit a basic exam covering the 7 methods listed in the documents
PT - Penetrant
MT – Magnetic
IRT – Thermography
ST – Shearography
ET – Eddy Current
UT – Ultrasonic
RT – Radiography
The UK NANDTB has Mandated a minimum of 75 questions in total on the above methods
+ 20 Questions on product technology if no ASNT/PCN is held and certification for Airbus or Leonardo (Agusta
Westland) is required

NOTE
If Airbus certification to ASI 6-10 and or A1083
10Q EN4179 and/or NAS410 and/or ASI 6-10 and/or A1083 are required regardless of whether an ASNT/PCN level 3
is held. (this is an open book exam)

EACH METHOD @ LEVEL 3

General Theory
40 Questions CLOSED book on general principles etc of the method

Specific Theory
30 Questions minimum OPEN book around relevant specification to be used at the current employer

Practical
Writing of a procedure relevant to the specifications/processes being used at the current employer
This procedure MUST be completed during the training/exam session it is no longer permissible to bring a procedure
completed in the previous 3 months

If Leonardo is required then this exam must include 10 questions on the relevant AWPS acceptance criteria

BASIC
2 days for Prod Tech + Certification documents
1 day per additional method at Level 2

L3 METHOD
MT – PT – VT all 5 days Includes method & Procedure
UT – RT – ET all 10 days
