A parking lot reserved for vehicles with handicapped permits
is located on State Street, between 2nd Street and 3rd Street.
State Street runs parallel with Main Street.

Special Note: Restrooms for visitors with disabilities will be located in the
parking lot and other designated restroom areas throughout the festival.

Uptown Festival Parking


Parking for the Barbecue Festival is located throughout Uptown
Lexington in private parking lots. Parking lots are operated by
community groups with most charging a daily fee to park.

Important! We urge you not to park on side streets or alleys surrounding


the festival. Vehicles parked illegally WILL be towed.

Barbecue Festival Express


A great way to travel to the festival is by train! The Piedmont,
originating from Raleigh, and the Carolinian, originating from
Charlotte, will be making their once-a-year stops in Lexington for
the Barbecue Festival. Special thanks to the Lexington Passenger
Rail Committee for hosting and staffing the train hospitality area.

Lumberjack Sports Show
Grass Lot between 3rd & 4th Avenue in Carnival / Family Fun Area
One of the most popular attractions at the festival! With six
different events to hold your interest, the contestants will be
divided into heats and then finals as these great athletes chop
and saw their way through timber that would make Paul Bunyan
think twice. The South Atlantic Woodman’s
Association will be bringing some of the
world’s best competitors to the “Barbecue
Festival Chop Shop”. Plan to catch the one
hour shows at 12:00 & 2:00 then the finals at 4:00!

Trampoline Quad Power Jump

Don’t miss this exciting opportunity to see the festival from
new heights while jumping on a Quad Bungee Trampoline! The
bungee jump phenomenon has been a tremendous attraction

Rock Climbing Wall

Bicycle Stunt Shows


Corner of N. Main & 3rd St. / BB&T Parking Lot
King BMX Stunt Shows,
presented by Kinetic by
Windstream, will perform 4
thirty minute bicycle shows.
Each show will provide the
audience with exciting stunt
performances. Each show
will include talk about safety
gear and it’s importance in bicycle riding. After the
shows, the riders will be available for fans to get autographs and meet their favorite
riders. Shows will begin at 10:30 a.m., 12:30 p.m., 2:30 p.m. and 4:30 p.m.

Hogway Speedway

Racing pigs will be a major attraction at the Barbecue


Festival! Specially bred and trained, these fleet footed
racing pigs bolt from the starting gate at the sound of the
bell and race around an oval track with ears laid back,
stubby legs churning and curly tails sailing along behind.
The Hogway Speedway always attracts a crowd! Races will
be held throughout the day.

Scrap Exchange-Make N Take


E. 3rd Avenue
An eco-friendly, creative arts activity!
We invite people of all ages to create art masterpieces using a fascinating
collection of materials – fabric, cardboard tubes, floppy
disks, and other clean industrial discards. The Scrap
Exchange will have an area at the festival featuring
their famous blue barrels filled with scrap materials,
along with scissors, tape, and staplers to fuel the
creativity. Participants will unleash their creativity
and imagination as they create rocket ships, costumes,
robots, sculptures, and more. Everyone will leave the
festival with a fantastic project of their own invention! Proudly sponsored by
North Davidson Garbage Service & Recycling Center.

During the festival, official souvenirs will be for sale at the souvenir booth
on the square, across from the historic courthouse. 2018 souvenirs include
posters, short sleeve & long sleeve T-shirts, hats, aprons, sweatshirts, tote
bags and many other great items. Special pricing on past souvenirs!

Juried Art & Crafts


Carolane Propane Gas of Lexington has joined with the
Barbecue Festival to produce the Juried Arts and Crafts
Section. Talented artisans have been accepted into this
special section of the festival located on South Main
Street between 1st Avenue and 3rd Avenue. Be sure
to visit these booths, as well as the hundreds of other
accomplished craftsmen, located throughout Uptown
Lexington.

Car Show Extravaganza!


See Antique Cars! N. Main Street & 3rd Street

Visitors to the festival may see a 1914 Buick with right hand
drive, Ford T models and A models, as well as Chevrolets
from the 1950’s and Mustangs from the 1960’s. Don’t miss
this opportunity to see some great antique cars presented by
Furnitureland Antique Automobile Club, members of AACA.
Check out the Corvettes! 1st Ave. Clubvette, along with
Country Corvette Club, will be displaying corvettes from all
vintages during the festival. Be sure to stop by and see this
great attraction!

The performances are 20-30 minutes long with a


meet and greet after each show. Each performance
has Frisbee, Agility, Tricks and crowd participation.
The shows are family friendly, and high energy.

Wine Garden
E. 3rd Avenue
Plan to stop by the Barbecue Festival Wine Garden,
presented by Our State Magazine. Admission is $12
in advance at www.barbecuefestival.com, $15 at the
gate. Admission includes a commemorative glass and
access to upscale restrooms. Wine will be for sale by
the glass & bottle. As you sip fantastic wine…sit back,
relax and enjoy great live music from Stage 4.

The Wine Garden will be open from 11:00 a.m. - 8:30 p.m. Hosted
by the Tourism-Recreation Investment Partnership for Davidson
County.

On The Square
In celebration of Lexington’s barbecue heritage and the
city’s annual Barbecue Festival, nationally renowned
artist Bob Timberlake and legendary NASCAR team owner
Richard Childress joined forces to create a wine especially
for barbecue. Crafted by award winning winemaker Mark
Friszolowski, the fourteenth edition of “Fine Swine Wine”
is making its debut at the 35th anniversary festival to
satisfy the demand of those who appreciate fine food and
wine pairings! A portion of the profits will be donated to
the Barbecue Festival.
While at the festival, please plan to stop by the Childress Vineyards booth, located at the
square, where Bob Timberlake and Mark Friszolowski will be on hand from 9:30 a.m.-
10:30 a.m. to sign bottles of Fine Swine Wine purchased that morning.

Barbecue Festival to Increase its “Green” Efforts
North Davidson Garbage Service & Recycling Center will once again
partner with the Barbecue Festival to continue the festival wide “green”
initiative. In 2017, we recycled more than 4,000 pounds...that’s the
equivalent of 38,000 Barbecue Sandwiches! Help us build on our success
& reach our goal of 4,500 lbs. in 2018. Recycling containers will be located
throughout the festival. Pepsi products will be sold in 20 oz. plastic bottles.
Please plan to place your empty 20 oz. Pepsi bottles and other recyclable
materials in the recycling containers.
