1. A diary on a tape. Travelling in a foreign country.

Describe your activities a visit (tapescript)

Traveling is great. It is a dream for a everybody, but traveling to a foreign country is

something else. I can say it is something new and captivating.
I’m traveling to Germany. I feel great and I’m looking forward to visit this country.
I’m traveling by train and after passing through the customs.
I’m trying to keep a diary on a tape. I get to the railway station and I already sense the western
style of life. Everybody is busy, has his own preoccupations and responsibilities. People hurry
up to their work, to their office.
The Germans are very busy. Here in the Munchen station, I can already realize this, because
everybody is very serious and polite.
I’m approaching a taxi driver to take me to the hotel. We are driving along nice streets
and I am admiring the traditional buildings with Gothic architecture.
Now I’m looking at a Castle. It’s wonderful you can see a lot of castles her in this
country from the Medieval Epoch.
Now I must turn off the tape recorder, because I arrived at the hotel. Bye for now.
HI! This is the next day of my stay in Germany. I want to travel to another great city. I want to
travel to Stuttgart by train, because I can admire the landscape.
I can say this country is wonderful , the mountains are covered with lots of trees that are green
even in autumn because of the climate here.
Look! Another castle on a hill! Tonight I am going to spend a nice evening here, because there
is a music show with great bands. Bye for now!

2. A foreign delegation visiting our unit(base)

-a basic training drill is taking place in our units/base

-assigned to explain the phases of the drill

hi everybody! Nice to met you and at the same time I wish you welcome and a nice stay here
at our military base. I am assigned to accompany you.
First , let me explain you what we are doing here! The troops are taking part in a military
training drill. The training commander is Col. Smith John.
Now troops are deploying in the field simulating the defense against terrorist attack.
The trainees are recruits and they are going defend their positions against the terrorists. All the
troops are disciplined, well-trained and they react to command. They cooperate very well and
are very solidary.
The first phase of the drill is establishing the defense area, supplying the weapons and all the
necessary equipment for a god operation.
This phase is taking place now so let’s watch it from this side.
At the beginning we are watching a demonstration of the daily traininf programmeat the gym.
Al the troops are healthy and strong, and the training programme is producing strong soldiers
to defend our country and our citizens.
 3. Making arrangements for a trip in England (Preparring to visiting a friend in
England)

Dear Peter,

I have already written to you recently that I accepted your invitations. Actually I am so
happy for having the opportunity to visit England and I thank you for that.
It’s really great. It’s like a dream, but I have to tell you that I am not ready yet, because for the
moment I am not in a holiday. I will be on the holiday next week, so for the moment I can’t go
to England. Then I have to get my salary wages to have the necessary money for traveling. I
think I’m traveling by plane and at the moment I am buying a lot of thing for myself.
I’m making a reservation for the hotel, because I don’t like to disturb you all the time
during my stay in England. I’ll stay at your place for some days, but the rest of it I’ll stay at
the hotel.
Tomorrow I’m booking plane tickets in advance for next Friday, so you can wait for me on
Friday evening. At the same time I am buying a lot of presents for you and your family to
have some souvenirs from Romania.
I think I’m going downtown to do some shoppings. I’m buying an umbrella, because it’s
raining all the time in England. You see, I am making a lot of arrangements for my trip to
England.

It is so challenging to have a great position in the military

Droughts and floods

Nowadays climate has completely changes and above all these weather
circumstances people have to be prepared to face sudden changes so that
calamities shouldn’t destroy all that people, have built and created by hard
work due to the progress of science and civilizations these values have to be
defended and protected.
Nature is wonderful, but at the same time it is strange and powerfull. We
have to cape with it, be its ally, friend and support, but when it becomes
dangerous we’ve got to overcome it.
Everywhere in the world the army has established specialized troops that
deak with preventing and overcoming calamities such as droughts, floods,
fire. Such troops are well trained, well-equipped in order to be able to help
people, save assets and interfere in very dangerous situations. They have the
proper training and equipment to do that and as we know they have
managed to save people’s life and assests whenever such situations
occurred. Of course there where victims and casualties, but this is
inevitable, although it’s pity and everyone regrets it.
There are also difficult and trigs situations in winter, that is when we
have to experience cold days, when everything gets frozen.
Under such circumstances it’s rather difficult to survive, to get
supplies, since almost all the ways and roads are difficult to pass through
because of the snow and the frost.
Army representatives are again the ones who help people go through it.
Their support is great and help them survive.

A visit of a friend in Roumania

Dear Jack
I’m looking forward to see you. As you have written to me recently,
you want to visit Romania. I would be very happy to see you and have you
here in my country. It’s a pleasure tom to be the one who will assume you
the proper accommodation. You’ll be my guest at my place and be sure
everything will be fine.
You will be delighted to visit Romania, since the weather here is quite
wild and temperate at this time of the year.
Actually, here in winter it’s cold but the weather is getting warmer at
noon, so it’s very pleasant in the mountains.
Anyway I would advise you to take warm clothes, winter clothes. If
you like skiing you can go to the mountains and ski there.
You’ll enjoy sunny days in the mountains, since the weather forecast
for the next weeks it won’t be windy and cloudy either.
Dear Jack, please let me know if you need something else here. Please
do come and tell me the day and time of your arrival.

A survey if officer’s expectations of army career in the near future

Army senior chief officer expects to make a good career in the near
future especially after having experienced a lot of international military
missions.
The main aim is continuing training in fulfilling military tasks in
getting a greater physical training and especially in attending foreign
language courses.
The utmost aim is being able to speak one or two foreign languages
quite fluently. This is the greatest demand of our days, the necessary
requirement for an army career.
 There’s no doubt that once our country has became a NATO member
and is going to access the EU membership each and every officer needs to
study a lot as far as strategy, economy and foreign languages are concerned.
Side by side with such courses senior officer expect to attend specialization
Courses in order to be able to fulfill their duty as valiant defenders of their
country.
It is the sense of duty and love for their people and motherland which
drives them to improve their career and abilities.
At the same time the pride of being trained officers is their guiding line to
show off the entire world that their represent their country’s investment
and honor.
