UNIVERSITI TEKNOLOGI MARA REACTION ENGINEERING LABORATORY 10 COURSE INFORMATION COURSE NAME : REACTION ENGINEERING LABORATORY COURSE CODE : (CHES06 PROGRAM = EH220, SEMESTER + 5 CREDIT HOURS : 1 CONTACTHOURS = 3 PRE-REQUISITE 3 NIL 2.0 SYNOPSIS ‘This course involves series of experiments that deals with the principles and concepts of chemical and biochemical reaction engineering. 3.0 OBJECTIVES 4.0 5.0 Upon completion of this course based on the theoretical and practical principles of chemical and biochemical reaction engineering, students should be able to: Identify, review and summarize laboratory procedures and understand the working principles of experimental units in order to conduct experimental works successfully and safely either individually or in a group. 2, Bvaluate experimental data and relate them with the fundamental theories and concepts related to chemical and biochemical reaction engineering, Effectively communicate with other members on the experimental designs and methods adopted, findings and conclusions of the experiments. The following are the equipments available for experiments: ‘Chemical Reaction Experiments Biochemical Reaction Experiments Continuous Stirred Tank Reactor (CSTR) ‘Growth Study of Microorganism in Shake Flask. Continuous Stirred Tank Reactor (CSTR) in Determination of KLa in Bioreactor Series Plug Flow Reactor Production and Assay of Amylase by Microorganisms ‘Continuous Stirred Tank Reactor (CSTR) —Piot | Investigation on Enzyme and Kinetics Size (40L) ‘Tabular Flow Reactor Distillation Column Student should carry out minimum six (6) of the above experiments during the semester. In case of any above experiments is not available, alternative experiments or special assignment(s) shall be conducted. For selected open-ended experiments, the activities should include: 1. Preparing experimental procedure based on Standard Operating Procedure (SOP) of each equipment. 2, Discussion/consultation with lecturer and lab technician/Tab assistant on experimental procedure and suitability of chemicals/materials to be used. 6.0 ASSESSMENT Lab reports + 60% LESSON PLAN FACULTY OF CHEMICAL ENGINEDRING CHESOG UNIVERSITI TEKNOLOGI MARA REACTION ENGINEERING LABORATORY Test 10% Peer Evaluation 110% Rubric assessment 220% TOTAL 100% 7.0 REFERENCES Any textbook related/literature related to chemical and biochemical reaction engineering. 8.0 ADDITIONAL INFORMATION ‘Attendance is compulsory, Laboratory experiment and consultation will be carried out in alternate weeks. No make-up will be allowed unless for medical excuses with legal documents presented. Students are required to design the experiment based on the problem statements given and consult with the lecturer one week before conducting the experiment. Students are required to repeat the experiment if the results are unsatisfactory. 6.
