Communication is more than just words. Much of what we convey is
expressed nonverbally through body language.
In this lesson of the G.RE.AT. Program, students identified the
many aspects of communication: words, tone of voice, and body
language. Students discussed how messages can be misinterpreted
and ways to prevent this from happening, such as asking questions
when they are unsure or do not understand, In addition, students
had the opportunity to practice communicating feelings and reading
body language of others. Correctly interpreting messages from the
social environment: can help children identify and avoid dangerous
situations.
You can support your child by discussing and practicing good
communication skills in your home. Being aware of body language
and tone of voice can help with understanding each other and
communicating thoughts and feelings effectively.
