Written report
History:
The mine has been worked since the pre-Hispanic period. Later, in the period of the Conquest, it
was exploited by the Spaniards. Then, in 1903 it was exploited by the Americans. And finally the
Chilean state bought shares of the mine in 1967, the process concluded in 1971, with the
Nationalization of copper, in the government of Salvador Allende.

Location :
El Teniente division is located in the commune of Machalì, in the middle of Los Andes, between
2200 and 3200 meters above the level of the sea. It’s distant 54 kilometers from Rancagua, capital
of the region of Libertador Bernardo O’Higgins.
Production:
During 2017, El teniente mining company reached a production of 464.328 metric tons of fine
copper , which is marketed through anodes that are generated in caletones smelting, also it produced
6.199 metric tons of fine molybdenum and 1.214.941 tons of sulfuric acid

Community:
During 2017 El Teniente participated in 8 community agreements with institutions with legal
personality with the objective of promoting the development and improving the quality of life of the
communities surrounding their operations. This support meant an investment of $623 million as of
December 2017.

Market:
The producers of copper and their clients realize the transactions of the reddish metal on three
international markets: the Metal stock exchange of London, the COMEX of the Mercantile Stock
exchange of New York and the Metal stock exchange of Shanghai.

Environment:
In the last 35 years, the division planted and average of 250 trees a day from which since 2015, a
number of 15 Chilean palms were planted daily.
In addition, It built 8 thousand square meters of green areas through the “Puro Ohiggns” plan of
citizen actions
