ABSTRACT

The purpose of this research is to investigate the effect of insoles and insoles materials on
reducing plantar pressure distribution. The Polyurethane (PU), ethylene vinyl acetate (EVA)
and polyester being selected as insoles materials for the study. Five potential subjects were
chosen for this experiment, weight range from 50kg to 70kg. F-scan in-shoe measuring
system being used to investigate the pressure distribution generated during experiment. Need
to perform pilot testing with one subject to familiar with the constraint of the measurement
system. To investigate the effectiveness of insoles in reducing plantar pressure distribution,
the barefoot plantar pressure must be measure before applying the insoles on foot. Then the
effectiveness of materials being analysis based on the data collected. From the experiment
result show that EVA insoles has the highest peak reduction compare to other materials.
Besides that, EVA insoles show to produce more contact area.
