PLANNING:

Initial concepts:
I have chosen to use the song “God’s Plan” by Drake and apply this to my brand new artist
Primz. I decided on a primarily performance based music video in which my artist will be
conveyed as ‘urban’ and therefore will be located in a number of different environments
that would be considered urban e.g. streets, artist behind street art/graffiti. As well as this
the artist will be followed by an entourage or include clips of people who follow this idea of
being part of the urban culture, dancing, living their daily lives. It will also include lip-
synching but this will not be entirely throughout the music video, as their will be a narrative
of opposing social classes, e.g. urban, working class, against the higher class, such as a
businessman.

I have made the decision to include an intertextual reference in my music video, with
reference to A$AP Rocky – Praise The Lord (Da Shine), within this video there is a constant
use of a side-by-side comparison between New York and London, where there is a split
screen comparison which has been done through the use of editing/post production I would
like to use this but tweak it to my own idea in which I can use this to compare social class.

I have again decided to use an intertextual reference in my music video with reference to
London. What component I have decided to make reference to is the similarity of
shots/locations, e.g. being behind a graffiti backdrop, or sitting on some steps. I wanted to
reference this as the video and song is in appreciation for London, and in particular for
those who live in what would be considered as the more urban areas, and therefore this
matches with my artist perfectly.

I have taken another intertextual reference from the music video of Shutdown. What
components from this music video that I would like to allude to in my own would be the
particular elements of the main artist Skepta, surrounded by his entourage, again showing a
visual representation of those in urban environments, as well as the mid-shots of various
individuals throughout the video, as I can implement these to show a better understanding
of some of the actors in my music video, e.g. the businessman
